Recommendations for Changes to Lanai
 

We currently own a designer home in TV and are most anxious to be living in it. However, like many of you who have posted, we also have a home to sell in MA before we make the move. It will go on the market at the end of August. Happily, our daughter and son-in-law sold their house to the first people who looked at it. Let's hope! We love our home in TV and would like to enclose the lanai with windows. Any recommendations are welcome pertaining to materials and also would appreciate contractor recommendations. Additionally, we would like to remove carpet and add tile in the living/dining areas. Recommendations welcome as well.

That is our first order of business when we move down there. Enclosing the lanai. That and putting in hard wood floors. Anyone out here with approx. cost?

We had Martin Aluminum enclose our lanai with Actylic sliding windows. It is now my favorite room. As far as tile, we are in the midst of having our carpet removed and ceramic tile installed. Check out Floors of the Villages. We are very satisfied, but have it done before you move your furniture in if possible. We are living amidst the dust and it is pretty bad.

We had wood floors put in the living room, kitchen and hallway. Ran about three grand. Great Lakes on 441 did a great job.

I would love to hear what people are paying to enclose a lanai. Sounds like everyone either has a florida room already; or wants to create one.

Also, I see (in pictures) a lot of birdcage lanais added after a florida room is enclosed. Any idea what a large birdcage costs?

Also, names of reliable contractors would be much appreciated.

Thanks for all of your suggestions regarding the lanai enclosure and the tile. I'm making a list of folks to call once we have a "go" on the sale of the house. We bought our home in TV furnished - everything in it is fairly new as the previous owners spent very little time in the home. However, we will be bringing some of our own furniture and will have to move the existing furniture out. Any suggestions or experiences with "Craigslist" for selling furniture.

To get rid of "others furnishings" we used Caren's Classy Cottage - a consignment shop that will pick up and sell for you. We used them for an entire villa - including unpackaged sheets....sold everything and the checks kept coming. They arranged pick up and removed everything we wanted to sell.

They usually have an ad in the TV Daily Sun for their phone number. I would highly recommend them from our experience.
