A/C heat pump replacement

We are considering on replacing our current heat pump. Would like to know who you used and if you were satisfied with the work, what brand did you get?

Chuck Farrell replaced mine and several of my neighbors. Best price and great service.

I called him this morning and left a message. Hope he calls back. I researched him on totv and he comes highly recommended.

Thanks enconover. We took all of the advice that everyone spoke of on totv and had chuck Farrell to install our new system. The crew of mike and Chris were wonderful. They did an excellent job in installing our unit. They explained the system to my husband. Great job in the clean up too.would highly recommend them to anyone who is thinking of a new unit or just to inspect their unit. Great price. I'm glad I'm on totv people give great advise. Thanks everyone

Thanks for the info. Did they install a new line set?(line set is the copper piping refrigerant high pressure liquid and suction gas with new insulation) if so they would/should have installed them up wall through attic to air handler .
I would really like to know. Thanks

They replaced some piping to the attic but didn't go in the attic. Changed fuses in the box. Replaced the water line ( I think that is what it's called) put in a float. Put in a new deck for the unit to sit on in the laundry room, painted it for us. New thermostat put in. We didn't stay in the laundry room to see everything that they did. They pulled the permit and the inspector came out the next day and said that they did a good job and we passed. It is an American standard unit. I hope this answers your question.

My mistake the piping is going down to the floor. The wiring was coming out of the attic. Like I said we didn't stay and watch them the whole time.

I guess you are not sure if they installed new line set. I would call them and ask. If they used the old one again they will tell you they treated and cleaned the oil residue from the old system. Your old system used a different type of compressor oil and refrigerant than your new one. If your old unit had compressor fail it also produces acid from the cooked oil. Ask them if they reinsulated your suction line...if the insulation is old and in poor condition you will have high superheat. Proper superheat protects the compressor, the heart of an AC system. Any HVAC contractor who tells you your 10 to 20 year old line set is ok to use again IMO should not be considered

We had a new unit installed with Sumter Air and heat And were highly satisfied. A single lady in our Village had a heat pump including lines replaced by the same company and also is satisfied. Best prices and service around IMO. Good luck!

Vincent Air is the best

My guy said he installed new line set but fed it thru old pipe instead of running up and into attic and back out to handler.
Obviously a shorter run . Is there a down fall to this or something I should ask besides if line was reinsulated?
