Question for those of you who get a fair amount of guests sleeping over

We have two blow up mattresses, one blow up bed and just purchased a new sleep sofa with a blow up mattress made by Flexsteel. (This one is comfy) Two sofa's, and the possibility of renting a home for a short time if we have EVERYBODY at once, such as Christmas.

Friends found a place outside of The Villages which has Murphy bed options that look like sideboards or shelving, (two twin beds)

have a friend who did not like their Murphy bed, because in order to open it, and have other stuff in room for den, had to shove most of the large furniture pieces out of the way to open it. Most of the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms are not real large here. They sold theirs. You do see them for sale both on TOTV and in the paper, but then again, there are those who buy them as well.

Have another friend who did put a Murphy bed in her sewing room, and that seems to work, because she doesn't have den furniture in it as well. Easier to move a cutting table (that folds) and ironing board when guests visit.

I'll be interested to see other posts. We rearranged our main guest room, with a queen bed, which is also my sewing room, and that seems to work better. We have a queen-size airbed, which is one of the high ones, and that is fairly comfortable. We set that up in the 3rd bedroom, which just has furniture along the walls (desk, bookshelves, music practice area) when needed.

Just put kids usually on the floor. They think that's fun (probably until they are teenagers). Sometimes we put them to bed in the beds and move them when the adults go to bed. Have put the pack n play in the walk-in closet.

we bought a house with a murphy bed especially for the grandkids to sleep on. My husband and i slept on it while our furniture was being sent, it was ok.. the only thing I dislike about it.. there is a space behind the head of the mattress between it and the wall and the pillows fall behind.. If you get one be sure to check into having that option fixed.

I agree with the idea of good quality inflatable beds. They come with the inflater/deflater device, and are very thick and comfortable, and store away easily. I also have a sleeper sofa (you can put an inflatable mattress on top if it is not comfy), and you can get futons that function as a sofa or fold down into a bed.

We have a 2BR/2BA CYV and have had a fair amount of overnight friends and family come to visit during the first 1-2 years we have owned the Villa. Just a thought, the amount of guests does go down with just family coming on a semi-regular basis around the holidays.

Initially, the 2 BR Villa works was crowded to over-capacity at times :), but works great for us now. We have a couple of blow-up beds for the extra guests that the 2nd bedroom cannot accommodate. Just a thought so you may not need to buy the Murphy Bed set up.

We did the murphy bed arrangement in one of our guest rooms, so we could have an office and bedroom. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT. We used Wall Beds Plus on 466. they will design a room to fit your needs. We have linen storage, desk and office storage and a queen size bed. The grandchildren love sleeping on the "bed in the wall". My concern would be the amount of room they take up. Seem to overpower the room.

I agree and some of the finishes aren't 'real' looking. From a design point of view, I am not shot down with the ones I have seen. Well one was nice.

I agree with Gracie. Most of the ones I have seen have a big blank space in the middle. Maybe you can hang an easily removable picture in the middle for when it's folded into the wall? Don't know.

I think they would work for either a sewing/craft room or an office, where you don't have big pieces of furniture to move (and where do you move them)? every time you want to open the Murphy bed. Although, in fairness, the queen size airbed takes up most of the available floor space as well. But, it is way cheaper, and the room usually looks better than a Murphy Bed when it is put away.

We have been in our home for a year and just installed the Wall Bed with 10 inch mattress along with file cabinets, corner desk, and TV Cabinet last week. We used Wall Beds Plus who are on 466. We really like how it turned out. It will be easier for us then blowing up the air mattress.

I'm loving my wall bed and office unit too. I have more cabinets, drawers and bookcase room than that with which I know what to do. As for the extra floor space with the bed up the wall, I skate in here.
