Losing power

My club car DS (48volt) seems to be loosing power and torque. My speed has dropped by 3 or 4 mph. Torque is noticably lower (takes longer to get to speed. I checked voltages on all the batteries and they are charging up to over 54 volts. I'm thinking there must be some type of controller?

The battery voltage indicated will not show you the amperage drawn when under a driving load. You may not be seeing a bad battery or cell.
How old are your batteries and what is you tire pressure for all four wheels. I doubt weather your controller is the problem. What year is your Club Car.

I think the cart is a 2004, The batteries are coming up on one year old and I use a battery tender when I'm not here. The tire pressure is 28 to 30 in all four tires. The battery readings after all day use today is 8.10 to 8.15 in all batteries.(pool/home/sweetbay/home/sumter/Brownwood/home) home is south of 466a near Evans Prairie, so it is quite a bit of use The cart runs okay just much less performance. I'm concerned it will get worse or quit, I'm not here enough to take a chance of it not working when I need it.

I'll have to check all connections tomorrow. There is no corrosion

Now that I know the year, I can tell you that your carts controller can be connected too a programer that will pull up the fault coats, that should eliminate most of the guess work.

Frank, I just checked the serial number and the cart is a 2002 not 2004, does that make a difference?

Frank7 10-19-2013 05:08 PM

The electronic controller that allows a programer diagnoses is a black plastic, and is called an IQ, 2002 could have old and new style??

I'm leaving until Thursday. What would it take to check it out?
