Update my reluctant HS student
 

First... Thanks to all who responded. Apparently his apathetic attitude is quite common.

Steps we have taken
1. Took away electronics - Wii, Xbox, Ipad, Phone
2. No ski trip.

Results
Improvement has been immediate grades are up and Sunday night studying Spanish a day early...Can that be my son?

has asked for xbox back... We will see and when we do on a very limited basis

Ability is there..Motivation sadly not so much.

Sounds like you found his motivation. Interesting that Xbox is first thing he asked for, not his phone. Maybe an hour after all homework is done in living room where you can watch him play (boy, I'm mean!).
