Publix or Walgreens Pharmacy??

Would like an opinion on which pharmacy that most of you use or think is the best Walgreen's or Publix?

Walgreen's always seems like they have long lines to drop off and pick up prescriptions and the pharmacists and people waiting on the counter seem overwhelmed.
Publix seems much larger and there never seems to be big lines to pick up or drop off prescriptions.
Would like to get some opinions on both of them so we can chose where to have our prescriptions up north transferred from.
Thanks TOTV!

We use Publix and are mostly pleased.

We use Sams - suggest you price the prescriptions at different pharmacies to see who has the best price.

Publix has shorter lines because they sell exponentially fewer drugs. Walgreens and CVS offer the convenience of some 24-hour locations as well as availability all over the country, which, of course Publix cannot. You may find that having more than one prescription drug provider may make sense in both convenience options as well as cost.

We've been using Walgreen's but because of the insurance changes for next year we're shopping around. Sam's seems to have some good prices for the meds we take. We'd gone with Walgreen's due to it being a national company so when we traveled we had access to our items. But Sam's would be similar I would think, in that way.

Used to us Walgreens, but every time I would go, they would give me absolutely horrible customer service. I always felt like I was interrupting them by giving them by business or by wanting to ask a question. Now use Publix. They make me feel welcomed and are always willing to answer any questions. In fact, they always ask me if I have any questions.

We use Walmart on 466. Service and price are great. Although I have not used, they will mail your prescriptions at no cost.

I have used Walgreens because we travel. Just found out that Publix provides some antibiotics at 0 $ where Walgreens always charges for this type of script, ie amoxicillen. I shop Publix, so might switch over once I do some more price checking, but definitely will use them for antibiotics

Check out this Walgreen's list of drugs with prices to see if the medications you take are on it.

Here's the list for Publix. 90 day supply for $9

I used both Publix and Walgreens in Colony Plaza and was very dissatisfied with both. Walgreens had a clerk in there who always looked like she was a "deer in headlights". I spoke to the Pharmacist and told him of my displeasure but nothing was done about it. Publix didn't fill an antiobiotic prescription in a timely manner and never notified me of a delay.

I have been using the Walgreens on Rolling Acres in Lady Lake and love them. Their drive up window is handled very expediently and the pharmacist is a dream come true. He has been very on top of all my drugs and has literally called a doctor on the fact that an interaction with one of my existing drugs, would not be good. He's also always there to answer questions for me. I have sent a few people there and they are very happy as well.

Walgreens vs. Publix as a Pharmacy: Walgreens is national so I would go with them and they can fill my prescription while on vacation up north in summer. Publix main business is grocery---Walgreens is pharmacy. Need I say more?

Each location may have a "better or worse" pharmacist with personality but that is not the important reason to choose a Pharmacy.

Target may be another alternative to either and they are a national chain.

Have been using Walgreens but...

Since I have hit the donut hole I am doing a bit of research on pricing of drugs. One drug I take is 4,00 at Sam's Target and Walmart but 10,999 at Walgreens. I am doing the Math,

Because of my health issues and the meds I need to take...I'm doing my homework already for next year as to the best pharmacy to take my RX's. For the same reason this "quoted" response.

Does anyone know if going the Canadian Pharmacy route is a more economical route to take???

Another option is Winn Dixie

There price is $8.00 for 90 day supply....Initial cost of $5.00, which you get back in coupon for groceries when you have a Winn Dixie card

We use Sam's. I also check out Costco on every prescription too. I never tell anybody my insurance info until they tell me the price. Many times, especially with Costco, the prices are cheaper than my $10.00 copay if I buy a 90 day supply. Sometimes, even with a 30 day supply.
