Federal Retirees Dental Plan Open Season

Hi:

My husband is a federal retiree and we have dental insurance through Aetna. I was wondering if any of you have a different company and possibly a plan that may be better. With open season coming up we were wondering.

I have Metlife...don't know if it's better but it's been good picking up what fed bl/bs doesn't

I am thinking of changing from Aetna to the fed. Metlife plan as my dentist is in the Metlife network. She says many of her patients are quite happy with Metlife and it will pay more because of in network. My Aetna is handled as out of network thus I have to pay more. I haven't compared the cost of the plans for 2014 yet so we shall see if I change or not.

I had Metlife when I was still working and liked it. Went to Delta under Tricare when I retired.

I have FedBlue (BCBS) and the dental coverage is "slim to none".
GEHA picks up most of the slack, and we are quite happy with it.:eclipsee_gold_cup:

I would you take the list of providers to you Dentist and ask them which one has the better coverage and is a preferred provider. Just because they accept your insurance, it does not mean they are a preferred provider. I have FedBlue (BCBS) and they pay very little my dentist recommended Aetna and I have not paid anything since.
