Back in Binghamton, New York, Cortese restaurant was said to have the best pizza for miles around. (I never really cared for theirs ::)) Is there one like that near here? I mean, one that rivals that kind of reputation. I have found the pizza shops in the Villages to be, "ordinary."

Jan - now you've posed the most important topic of all!!! Definitely a huge requirement for any ex-nyc guy's relocation to Florida!! I'll be interested to see how this plays out!!

There are two so far.. One in at the Spanish Springs square just down the street from the radio staion and the other is in Mulbery Shopping Plazza just off Hwy 42

pauley's is good new york style pizza.
the mulberry plaza location delivers within the villages but i'm not sure how far south of 466 they're able to go.
i like giovanni's thin crust pizza in southern trace. they'll deliver through the villages via go go gourmet. bravo's in sumter landing is decent but to salty for me but they'll also deliver through go go gourmet.

I'm writing all this down for when I get there... keep those pizza recommendations coming! Now if you guys can find a good German restaurant for some Sauerbraten and potato dumplings I'll be all set (from the ex-New Yawker)...

for german food try dinner bell on 441 just 5-10 miles outside the villages or just stop by one of two toojay deli locations within the villages.
