Problem with voltage
I have a Yamaha gas cart and for the past 2 weeks I have had an intermittant problem. When I stop the cart and attempt to go I notice the battery voltage reading on my speedometer drops to 6 or 7 volts when normally it would show 12 volts when stopped. When the voltage drops there is a hesitation when I press the gas pedal. The cart does start and the voltage goes back to normal. As I said this is an intermittant problem. I have called Carts and Clubs and they are sending someone out a week from Tuesday. I have a feeling it might be the voltage regulator acting up but I have no knowledge of gas cart motors or for that matter motors in general.
Does anyone have an idea of what might be causing this? Thanx John |
My bet it on the throttle switch. Common issue with Yamaha gas carts. It's a $9 part and I've fixed 3-4 of them around my neighborhood

I am thinking it is your battery. If the engine stops on the compression stroke, there isn't enough battery power to turn the engine through the compression stroke when trying to restart. That's why you see the voltage drop.
