Dust, Dust & More Dust

Okay, I'm just wondering, am I the only one who complains about having to dust all the time. We have a designer with tile floors in the living areas. About 5 oclock when the sun starts shining thru the sliders, I can just see the dust all over the floors. I have been sweeping everyday, and it's getting old. The furniture also, (dark wood) shows the dust . I know, if this is all I have to complain about, life is pretty good. But really, am I the only one who notices this, and is there a solution? I live in Hemingway, so I'm not near new construction!

You are not alone!!

Nope not alone. I have complained about dust since I moved here almost 12 years ago. I dust and hours later it's dusty again. My tv stand has black glass, boy was that a mistake sun from the door shines through and it is horrible. plus we removed all carpeting have laminate and tile so no where for dust bunnies to hide anymore, I chase them constantly.

Funny, I live in Hemingway too and I see much less dust than I ever did up North.

Jblum315, Maybe your dust is blowing into my house :)

If you are in Hemmingway, you are still fairly close to new construction. It seems that construction dust can travel for miles in dry weather. We have seen a noticeable decline as construction has migrated further and further away from us. In fact, just south of 466, we no longer consider dust to be a major issue except in pollen season, and that is just part of living in Florida.

Well I live north by Lopez golf course so it is not a new section and I have complained about dust AND MORE dust since the 2nd week I moved in, almost 6 years ago. It is a never ending job,

Agree! I live in Springdale also no where near construction and the dust issue is ongoing!

I believe if you have hard surface floors rather than carpet everything is dustier. With carpet the dust clings to the fibers and doesn't float so easily around the room. Just a thought - have to go and dust!

I do not open my doors and windows as most of my neighbors love to do for this exact reason. Not sure if that could be contributing to your problem or not. We live south of 466A. I hope when the construction is over our lanai will not be so dirty.

My home here is much brighter as the sun shines most every day which it did not where I lived in Upstate NY. Just my opinion for the dust being more noticeable.

casita37 11-05-2013 08:54 PM

Dustiest place I have ever lived! We have laminate floors, and we vacuum ,or sweep, everyday. I'm glad we don't have carpet, because then we would be, unknowingly, breathing it. Would be nice to just "hide" it some, though.

We are in Tall Trees, with new construction on the new memory center. That's almost complete, so hoping for better, but.....last year, before construction, we were still the dustiest place ever!!!

Makes you wonder how all this dust affects your health. True, dust can travel for miles maybe even from the south part of TV to the North of TV.

Frankly we keep our slider door closed to the lanai and windows closed with the Air Conditioner running except when it's very cold. Yes, some dust in our house but I do not think above normal. I know some have their slider to their lanai open much of the day. Maybe this makes a difference.

I don't have the dust anywhere near what I had up north. I never open my doors or windows.
