Tree removal
 

We have a large tree in our backyard that we would like taken down. Do we need permission from the villages to take it down? Every year we have to have the branches trimmed since it always grows over our house. It gets very expensive doing this. Also the roots are cracking our patio plus grass is starting not to grow there and leaving a big dirt pile. We have a very large one in the front yard that we do not want to take down. Where do we go if we need permission.?

If it is an Oak Tree over 4" you do need ARC approval. Let me suggest you call them before you do anything to the outside of your home. Landscaping, adding screens for the doors and or garage, etc. It is So much easier to ask 1st then to go back and ask permission.

No entirely true. If you live in a villa in several of the northern districts, the AACs have given blanket permission to take trees down, even if they are larger than 4 inches in diameter.

I used Eddie's Tree Service for trimming of my very tall palm trees and hedge trimming.

I believe, he would take your tree down as he mentioned to me that one of my palm tree's might have to come down. 352.617.1398.

It is an oak but don't know what kind it is. It is so close to the back of my house. I live in Mira mesa which is in the lady lake side of the villages it is a home not a villa and behind us. Is an open field. I will see if I can get permission for ARC before we do anything. Where are they located at?

My neighbor removed two absolutely beautiful oak trees without permission and had problems because she did not apply for a permit.

We live in Lynnhaven and had an oak taken down as we want a short, fat, squatty palm (easy to maintain). We approached VCDD up on Wedgewood Lane first as we wished to stay in compliance. Since we own a villa, they advised that it was OK to do so.

Lady Lake is very particular about what can be done to large trees. They enforce the rules. And are quite rigid. Good luck. Also, the list of approved trees to install is almost impossible to adhere to as most of the trees are not commercially grown and LL has no sources for these trees.

We live in Santiago and had to have an Oak Tree taken down as it was it by lightning. We call an Arborist and unless we had permission to take down he would not do the job. You are wrong here, trust me the ARC will not approve removal of trees over 4" , unless it is reviewed, each application is reviewed individually
