Survey for new club: East-West Dharma Hour

As noted on p.57 of this week's Rec News. Please PM me with your name, and address and/or phone (information requested by Villages Recreation to determine the level of interest) if this is an activity you may be interested in participating in. Or reply here for more information. Here is more detail on the proposal.

With our Western backgrounds, it's not always easy for us to fully appreciate the insights into life ("dharma") coming from other perspectives. And working with native Eastern teachers may be limited by language and/or cultural barriers.

So here, we will take a middle way: listening to the stories of Westerners who have studied in these other traditions, and then considering how what they have found may apply in our own lives as well.

We will be hearing from many of the leading teachers in this area, including Jack Kornfield, Sylvia Boorstein, Joseph Goldstein, Tara Brach, James Baraz, and others. Our recorded talks are generally 45-60 minutes in length, and so our bimonthly sessions are expected to come to natural conclusions in around 90 minutes or so.

Bumping for awareness as the survey enters its second week. Note that there is no commitment in a response - just your opinion that this would be an interesting and useful addition to the club list.

In response to some inquiries, we do not set the time of the meetings. However, we are proposing to Villages Recreation that Friday mornings are the best time to avoid conflicts with clubs with broadly similar themes.
