I've heard about The Villages and have registered, today, with TOTV.

My wife and I presently live in SE Michigan.

Good morning and welcome to the forum. I have a few friends here in TV from the Detroit area of Michigan. The Morse family started their great empire in that area as well.

Have you visited our beautiful community?

:welcome: to TOTV. You need to come for a visit, as no amount of words can really explain the beauty and diversity, of what TV is all about. Maybe in the winter months, as you will be freezing your butt off. :D

I don't miss the cold one bit, as my friend told me it snowed in my hometown several days ago. Yesterday, it was in the seventies.

Come on down but not at my expense.

Hi gramps. Welcome. Where in SE Michigan are you? We were from Wyandotte,mi and moved here 2 years ago. Love it here don't miss the snow one bit but we miss our children and family still in Michigan. They love the fact that we moved here so they can get away from the winters every once in a while.

Cold in Minnesota

I have learned so much from viewing posts. Still a couple of years away from retirement. It is already cold in Minnesota, high was 34 degrees today, have already had a couple of snow falls, likely we may not see 50-60 degrees again for 3 or 4 months! Although I have lived here all my life I am not looking forward to Jan - Feb when we can have WEEKS that it doesn't get above ZERO! TV is on my short list for retirement, my first preference is Sante Fe, NM, unfortunately you have to really be loaded to buy anything there. I too am looking for an active lifestyle that TV offers. thanks all for the informative posts.

Rick,

Where in Minnesota do you live? I lived in Minneapolis when I was in college at the University of Minnesota. I don't remember there ever being "WEEKS that it doesn't get above ZERO." I don't remember extended cold periods like that when I grew up in North Dakota either.

In face, the record in Minneapolis for the longest stretch with temperatures below zero is 186 consecutive hours (8 pm December 31, 1911 to 1 pm January 8, 1912).

I agree and please remember to bring a light wrap. The restaurants can be chilly.

Just picking a scab, sorry.

WELCOME to TOTV. You will not believe how wonderful this place is.

Do you have a dog?

BTW, welcome to TOTV grampawinger and I'm sure you will learn much about The Villages, it's residents and non-residents from the discussions on this forum!

Welcome from a fellow SE Michigander! You really need to visit to understand how great it is here.

keithwand 11-19-2013 01:24 PM

Also from Michigan.
Going to the Michigan Club tonight at Hacienda and belong to W. MI Club as well.
I was a skeptic before visiting (Gracie knows) and there is no place better than here and we still summer in Harbor Springs!
C'mon down.
