Modem/router Tech Savvy
Tech savvy / smart / intelligent
OK here is the problem. Up north I set up my own modem/router. When I moved down here I got my Modem/Router from Comcast. They are charging me $7.00 a month rental on it. I want to get my own and return theirs. A good Modem/router only costs about $90.00 so within one year I will have it paid for. Now I have seen people talk about Comcast making them get a new Modem/router because their old one was not compatible. Anyone know what market modem/routers are compatible and steps to setup? Thanks for any help |
Motorola Surfboard cable modems are compatible with Comcast. I'm not at home, so I can't tell you the model number I'm using. If you poke around for a while at the Comcast website, you can find a list of compatible cable modems.
The most important feature to look for when shopping ... supports DOCSIS 3.0. This will provide you with the best performance. |

I got a top of the line Motorola SURFboard modem, typically used for gaming, real fast, have had it not for 4 years. |
I use a ZOOM MODEM/ROUTER MODEL 5352 and it works great. All you have to do is call Comcast and give them the information they ask for about the modem. After that is takes a few minutes to sync and you are operational. I have had no issues at all.

I bought a refurbished Motorola Surfboard SB5101U on ebay for $27 and it works fine with Comcast or RoadRunner.
Amazon sells new ones. |
