remodeling kitchen

Hi Everyone,

I need some advice.

I have an amarillo, built in 2001 that is in need of some updates. I've been in The Villages for 5 years and have done quite a bit of work on my house (it was a handyman special) and am now ready to update the kitchen. My cabinets are a light oak and I was thinking about having them stained to freshen them up.
Anyone have any suggestions?

This is my first time on this web site and I'm very impressed by all the information. I've gotten a lot of good info on counter tops so far. Thank-you all! :D

A friend of mine has an Amarillo and has white cabinets and a black granite countertop. It looks great. He also did the black granite blacksplash. He did handscraped engineered hardwoods in the living room, hallways and bedrooms and a cream swirly ceramic tile in the bathrooms and laundry area. He had some pastel colors painted (I believe a pale green) in the kitchen. He has off white furniture in the dining room with a natural wood top. He has an off white TV stand and an off white china cabinet with natural wood details.

On the top left of the home page is a search tab. Search on granite and kitchens and there are several threads and pictures on the subject. Here is a picture of my Amarillo that I painted the washed pink cabinets gray, installed granite and did a tile back splash.

Your kitchen is lovely. Who painted the cabinets and what kind of paint is it? We had tenants once who painted the cabinets in just plain old latex, and it was a mess in a short time.

Love your sign off...:)

It was done with a high quality paint made for cabinets and it is holding up very well. Took a while as had to remove all the doors and hardware, sand everything and then paint.

The Kitchen cabinets we paint are lightly sanded, cleaned with a tack cloth and Zylene, and painted 2 coats of Sherwin Williams Pro Classic SELF LEVELING Water bourne enamel. The whole process takes 2 days and you dont have to empty your cabinets. We will need to use a section of your garage over night to paint your doors (BOTH SIDES). Call me if you would like to see a finished kitchen 352-205-8213 Len & Mary
