Security Company Question
There has been a lot of talk on the site about security systems. My sincerest condolences to the ones that had the break-in recently. That's just horrible! I am glad you are all safe.
I have a question for those that use security systems. I had a security system in Texas. On a couple of occasions my alarm was set off accidentally. By the time the security company called me, at least three-five minutes had passed. One time they couldn't get a hold of me and a sheriff showed up on my doorstep.... NINE HOURS LATER! If someone had actually been breaking into my house they would have been in and out before the security company even made a phone call to me. I would be long dead before the Sheriff's dept showed up. So, I am wondering if security systems work any differently here? Mine was through my phone line in Texas. All they had to do was cut my phone line and no one would be the wiser. The main comfort to me were the "panic" buttons. I figured if I could get to one of those, then help would come quickly. Has anyone here with a system had an actual emergency experience to see how fast they would actually have someone at your house? I am thinking about getting a system, just not sure it's worth the money.
