New Town Center

On our last visit to the Villages, and the first to our new home in Liberty Park :)
we heard mention of a new town center located near 466A. Can anyone provide an update on this new town center? theme? name?Projected opening?

Brownwood is the town center name and the theme is old west. I believe they have broken ground for it. :)

Re: New Town Center

Brownwood will be located at the Northwest corner of SR 44 and Buena Vista Blvd.

Buena Vista is complete to all but the last 200 yard or so to SR 44. I drove on 466A recently at night and the street lights were on South of 466A on Buena Vista Blvd. as far as I could see. If you drive on SR 44 at where Buena Vista will come out you will see that the ground is being moved around. This is by Sonny's BQ on SR44.

My thought is that The Villages will open up Buena Vista to SR 44 ASAP to bring prospects into The Villages without them having to come through Wildwood.

From Wildwood this is how you come into The Village by the back door.

From the corner of SR 44 and US 301 go (North) on US 301 North 2.1 miles to the 2nd stop light at CR 466A.

Turn right onto CR 466A and go 2.5 miles to 1st stop light Buena Vista Blvd.

Turn left onto Buena Vista Blvd. You will be on Buena Vista Blvd between Sandhill and Turtlemound golf courses.

Welcome to Paradise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also the newest golf courses in The Villages are open. Truman and Roosevelt exec courses. I played Truman today and it was a challenge. Everybit more than Pelican. Much different. Very hilly. The one par 4 is 365 from the blacks much over water. This is the second day that these courses have been open. Both are a treat. Stay away so I can play them!!!!!!!!

TV's Own Online Info Suggests That Brownwood Will Be A "Different" Town Center

The location of Brownwood so close to Wildwood suggests that the people it intends to draw will be from a lot broader area than just The Villages. Unless I'm mis-guessing, the crowds of people at events at both Spanish Springs and Lake Sumter Landing are heavily tilted towards TV residents.

The Villages own website, linked by Golfnut above, says "...entertainment, dining and shopping draw consumers from the regional market." I'd guess Brownwood will be a lot less "Villages-like" than the other two town centers. Whether that will be good or bad, better or worse, is the question that only time will tell.

Re: New Town Center

sumter landing may be slightly more villager populated due to location but spanish springs drawers visitors from all the surrounding communities
the villages provides varied shopping dining and entertainment venues to a very rural tri-county area so i imagine brownwood will be similar in that regard to the other two town squares.
