Pop Ups

Anyone else noticed the pop up ads on this site all the sudden?

DougB 11-26-2013 09:45 PM

Nope, but I usually don't have a clue what's going on around me.

If you are getting "pop-ups" you may have some malware on your computer. You probably need to run a virus/malware scan.

mulligan 11-27-2013 06:32 AM

I had the same problem a couple of weeks ago. Do a full computer scan, and a system restore to a point before it happened, then a disc cleanup. Should solve the problem.

I have not been getting any pop-ups.

Are you getting pop-ups, on other sites also?

If your internet connection is IE 8,9,or 10 may want to "tools" and then "manage add-ons". If you see something you don't reconize, you may want to disable the items, as your system may have been compromised.

I know it worked for me but I was getting tham on multiple sites.

I hope this helps.

Many browsers have a setting that can suppress popup ads (those that pop-up in a separate browser window).

TOTV Team 11-27-2013 09:06 AM

We don't have any pop up ads on this site. If you are experiencing this it is probably as some of the users above have indicated something on your computer that should not be there like a virus or malware. Be careful with your financial passwords and after you clean the virus/malware out you may want to change passwords for anything sensitive.

Firefox will cause pop up ads but you can go into their settings and turn that off.
I also had that a few months back. I found something that installed something on my computer. I was able to delete it and that took care of it.

Yes indeed. In fact I was going to start a thread when I saw your post and thus replying instead.

Something has changed and it's very irritating. Understand the need to generate revenue off the TOTV site ... which enables us all to enjoy it. BUT, the popups have gotten more "aggressive" and even obnoxious. There is also this constant scroll down from a bankruptcy attorney that must really need the business. It drives me crazy. I already have my IE popup option turned off, but the hassle factor is starting to wear on my enthusiasm to check frequently the TOTV site

Maybe the Administrator can reply and let us know if we're imaging this or if in fact a new level of popups has been deemed economically necessary.

See post #9.

I have not seen any pop ups on here & I have been on a lot.

Paper1 11-27-2013 11:46 AM

I also am picking up these ads. They are coming from sites I have visited prior so someone is tracking something. Not really that much of a hinderance though.

Update your anti-virus software and download Spy-Bot Search & Destroy. :024:

DougB 11-27-2013 11:50 AM

I heard pop-ups mostly come from visiting porn sites. Could someone verify if that is true?
