Is it warm enough to swim?
Counting the days we arrive on the 1st of Dec.
I hurt my foot and the Dr. suggested swimming would be good in addition to the exercises he gave me to get the strength back. As the pools are outdoors is it really warm enough to swim or is the water really cold as it gets cold at night? |
Yes it is. They keep the sport pools heated to at least 82 degrees, sometimes warmer. I don't know about the neighborhood pools.

played water volleyball for two hours today at Colony. Water was warm but following the action the run to the car was BRISK!

Water may be warm, but the air is cold. Buy a wet suit ( most people use "shorties", sleeves below elbows and legs below knees). You can get them on line or at a dive shop where you can try them on for good fit first. Sizes differ between brands and seem to have no reality to clothing sizes. Remember wet suits should be tight to work properly. The suits with a zipper up the front are easier to get in and out of.

After I get out of the pool I wear a terry cloth long robe. Seems to work
|
It's never too cold around here to swim. Of course, I lived in Alaska for quite a few years...
|
As I understand it, all the pools are kept at a constant temp of around 84 deg. Enjoy!!

For most days a robe should be all you need.

Seen some penguins heading down to the Chula Vista pool this morning.

Find a walled in pool.
Try swimming in a pool that has a wall surround, rather than an open fence. It will cut down on the wind and it absorbs the heat from the sun.

It hasn't been that many years----- I remember a hot tub at the ski lodge outside with roof high snow all around with the temps in the teens. With a bottle of wine and your significant other---invigorating! Like already posted---pool is kept at 82 or slightly above. It's never too cool in TV for a swim.
However, I have observed that private pool activity slows way down during the winter months. For comfort the water must be heated. |
The pool restrooms are heated.
If the air temperature is chilly when you get out of the pool, just go into the heated restroom and change into dry clothes.
