Items That Can & Cannot Be Stored In Garage Attic

We do not plan on having the attic insulated or having a fan installed. How would books, pictures, Christmas decorations, plastic items and clothing hold up during the summer heat in the attic?

I would reconsider the clothing, and definitely no books of any value( roaches love the glue in the bindings). If you have enough clothing to put overflow in the attic, you probably moved too much.

I wouldn't store any clothing, books or pictures in attic. They will just dry up and tear easy. Even with fan and insulation, the heat can reach 100-120 up there. I agree with Mulligan, if you have all that extra clothing, then you brought too much with you. Do yourself a favor, and donate it, or sell at consignment store. (Books too) Believe me, you will be looking for space in your attic, to store stuff (I mean STUFF -LOL) and within a couple of years you will have it filled. Nothing like storing stuff in your attic, and forgetting it's there!!! Luggage can be stored there too, along with Christmas decorations. I throw moth balls in attic every once in a while. (not sure if it helps or not)Good luck with whatever you choose, and enjoy your new home.

Anything containing plastic has a great chance of bending or breaking when you try to straighten it out. Just took Christmas decorations down from our attic and experienced it again. Never learn!

items that can and cannot be stored in atic

I put all by Christmas decorations in a big plastic tub with top, i had gotten an extra tree last year for the lanai. It was all white and when we took it out of the attic it turned a lite brown color and it was covered. Had to throw it out.

Yep I have a feeling I will too. I'm throwing away, selling, & giving away a lot of stuff. I know one day I'll regret it.

Thanks to everyone for the replies. Now to figure out what to do with the stuff I was going to store in the attic.

You could put a lot of small candles together and make one big candle.
