What's worth standing in line for?

After seeing the lines for Black Friday over the past few years, I wonder what, if anything, you would stand in line for overnight regardless of weather. If you were younger, what would it be? Today?

I've only stayed in line overnight once -- the Bolshoi Ballet. Did that in my 30s. Would do it again in a heartbeat. Can't think of anything else that would be worth that to me.

Only a once in a lifetime event, and even then, I'm not sure I would camp out overnight, but that's just me.

Maybe I would do for someone else, if I were in love with that person.

In Denver we'd stand in line for the annual winter release of the KBCO Studio CD benefitting the Boulder AIDS Project. This year is the 25th anniversary and even in their severe temps, I'm told friends are in line for us! Other lines are on -site camping lines for bluegrass festivals we've attended. I've heard some of the best picking and met some of the best people in those lines. As for shopping...not me!

Not a lot of things are worth long lines. I remember when I was younger, we would go to Disneyland a couple of times a year and my father would quite often sit on a bench while we went on rides. I remember thinking then that I will never be too old to go on the rides, which I still agree with, however I have gotten too old to want to stand in line for over an hour for a 90 second ride.

Nothing that I can think of.

The last thing I waited in line for was to exercise my right to vote. It took much longer than it should have (almost 2 hours as I recall) but had some nice conversations with fellow Villagers waiting with us. I would do it again. I would not stand in line to save a few bucks.

Which means...YOU never get what you want... Don't feel bad, I don't either...

If people just understood the analogy and understood what it means. It's not a "choice" when someone tells you that you can only pick this one or that one...you get to choose from one of the choices they've already made for you.
