Cable TV Cord Cutting

Looking into cutting the cutting the TV cable cord.
Cable TV is just to expensive however you get it.

Will need ethernet cables run for HD streaming, as Wifi is just not "fast"
enough.
Do I need and electrician or can I use a handyman or a cable guy ?
Any ideas for vendors appreciated.
Thanks
Chazz

You would not necessarily need an electrician to perform that task although one certainly could. It could be done by a handyman. Depending upon how far you are running from the switch to the equipment you could use a cable already terminated on each end and do it yourself or even run the cable and have someone just terminate it. It is all low voltage so nothing to fear.

You could certainly do it with wireless if you were to use newer devices capable of the higher speeds.

I would very highly recommend Tom at TheVillagesAV.com . He is a wiz at anything audio/video and was VERY reasonable when he set us up!

You don't say who your current cable company is. Any one of them could provide sufficient bandwidth to do the job of streaming video. As far as wireless is concerned any of the new technologies will handle streaming very well. I use Comcast for Internet and for $65 a month I get about 30Mbytes down and 1-3 up. I use an "N" wireless router and I stream Netflix, Amazon and Hulu just fine.

Anytime you can get audio and video streaming off the wireless network it's a good thing. I feel it's mandatory for best performance

And thanks for the kind words MH ;)
