PUBLIC SAFETY
while not a resident (yet) we r planning our first trip to what hopefully be our retirement home...in the near future
i have enjoyed reading all of the forum topics and have learned a lot one thing that never seems to be talked asked or taked about...is police and fire protection in or around TV while everyone hopes that they will never have to avail themselves of those services, it surely is something that, I for one, would like some info on as part of the decision making process for retirement living any help from TV residents, would surely be helpful and must appreciated |

Personally, I have not had any bad experiences with any of these. Had a very nice experience with a very helpful Sumter County police officer when my car broke down on one of the main thoroughfares in the Villages. My car breaks down a lot and has done this in other Counties where I usually had to depend on the help of a good samaritan to help me out. The cops would just drive right on by a disabled vehicle. These various departments were quite involved in the February 2, 2007 tornado that hit parts of the Villages in Lake and Sumter County. Marion County was spared as far as I know from the 2-2-07 tornado. The Villages has a Villages Watch program that seems effective but I do not know that much about it really. |
