Fun "Dialect" Quiz

Fun dialect quiz....it guessed that I am from Buffalo, Rochester or Grand Rapids! (Niagara Falls is right next to Buffalo!)

Quirky That was really cool.

Pretty cool. It had me down pat. Now I'm going to get a drink from the bubbler.

Bummer. the script stopped running on my PC so I will take it later.

I'm sure it will say I'm from NY and or CT.

Cool test!

Giggles 12-25-2013 08:07 AM

It's showing me somewhere between Springfield, Yonkers and Newark/Paterson. OK, I'm from Connecticut.

Cool test!

It stopped on mine alsothe first time. It worked fine the second time I took it.

Nailed it. Answers Detroit (I am), Grand Rapids and Aurora, IL.
Devils Night. Only in Detroit I guess.

Born in Chicago, lived in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and 30 years in Florida. Shows I still have that Midwestern dialect.

The same thing happened to me! The first time I got a script error, but it worked the second time. There is a delay of a few seconds as it figures out the answer.

2BNTV 12-25-2013 10:28 AM

I give up. It bombed the second time also. I am using my son's PC, so I will try it when I get back home. :ohdear:

I live in IN. now, but grew up outside of Akron, Ohio. (Tallmadge)

It nailed. I am impressed. Thanks for the fun.

Showed CA cities for me....who woulda thunk....:D

Thanks! Merry Christmas!

manaboutown 12-25-2013 11:54 AM

It showed I was from Albuquerque which is where I lived from age 2 to 22. Unbelievable! BTW, I made sure to use the terms and pronunciations I heard and used as a child. The primary key phrase which nailed me to Albuquerque or Denver was "frontage road".

What astounded me was that it correctly identified my southwestern home town although my mother was from Baltimore and my father from NY/NJ. I feel I must have picked up some of their accents but I guess what one hears from one's peers at school outweighs parental accent influences.

Thanks quirky, that was fun. It did "stick" for awhile and apparently my speech is "stuck" in the Midwest.

I am gonna go and pour myself a pop and enjoy the rest of the Christmas movies on the Hallmark Channel and know that the kids with be here in 48 hours.
