Par Car Electric Golf Carts
I know the topic has been beaten to death and the debate over gas v.s. electric goes on. But, are there any Par Car owners out there that can offer input. Do you really get 80 miles to a charge? Do you lose speed on minor inclines, lose power as the day goes on, is electric adequate for life here in The Villages, etc. I I just moved in and I am thinking of buying one, but hesitant. Owners insight would be appreciated.

We have a par car and are very pleased. I go everywhere I want with no worry. We bought the par car because we wanted electric and they give the longest battery range. We are very happy. Yesterday I put 30 miles on the cart and still had lots of range left.

I've had both gas and electric. When we moved south of 466A we went to gas for our long distance cart rides. 8 six volt batteries will get you further than 6 eight volt batteries.
If I was buying a new electric I would look and drive all four major selling brands---Club, Par, EZGO, and Yamaha. Just a tip from an eight year Villager----the seats and ride make a big difference! Take your time shopping as a new cart is a pretty good investment. Good luck. |
Par Car is what I would get if going electric. Quite a few neighbors have them and like them.

Are there gages on Par Car, that tell you how many miles you have left, or is it a gage that tells you how much voltage you have left? (and if voltage, is there a formula?) Thanks

I have had a Par Car for just over a year now and it has served me very well. I can't personally vouch for an 80 mile range as I have not travelled that far at one sitting. However, I have never come close to running out of juice and I have travelled at least 30 miles without stopping (except for lights and stop signs) and the needle had barely budged so I believe that 60+ miles is attainable with power to spare. As for inclines, you will slow down but only by 1 or 2 mph, even on long uphill stretches. The real test for me will be when the cart batteries are 3 or more years old. Will they have enough range and power then? With eight 6-volt batteries, I am hoping that I will get at least 4 years before I have to consider replacing them, - we'll see. But so far, I love the Par Car.

We have a 2008 street legal Par Car and we easily can go all over the Villages.80 mile range?No.That was done as a promotion until the batteries went completely dead.I know we went almost 50 miles in one day(we have an odometer). We charge it every time we use it no matter how far we went.We use our cart alot..we have over 45,000 miles on this cart.

Thank you everybody for your input! I have not purchased a cart yet, but I did drive the Par Car and gas Yamaha today. Both were very nice vehicles and had equally nice rides. I am doing a bit more research, but should be the owner of a new cart by next week sometime. Thanks again to everyone that replied.

Sometimes we go up Buena Vista on the road to Brownwood using "faster speed, not over 20 and other times on the cart path using the slower speed. Either way we can go the distant.
