No entertainment tonight
I'm looking at the cameras of the squares, there is no entertainment. Is that because it is too cold?
|
Agree, this is the first time I've seen that. A month ago we had a cold night and a band (dressed in coats, hats, and gloves) were playing to one couple braving the elements. Maybe they have a min. temperature cut off on entertainment to save the funds for another night.

It was COLD here today. Can you imagine going to the Square?
I know, in comparison, to our Northern neighbors we are relatively warm. Just a sign I've lived here too long......brrrrrrrrrrr........ |
According to my iphone it is 46 degrees in The Villages now @ 6:00 pm. To me that is way too cold to sit outside in a chair or be up on the bandstand! Brrr!

There is a temperature limit....not sure exactly, but I do believe it is in the mid 40's somewhere. Someone might know the exact temp where entertainment on the square is cancelled. Sitting out there is easier than for the entertainers, audience members can bring a blanket to kept warm and hot liquid refreshments,,,,,entertainers don't have that luxury.

When we first arrived in 2011 my salesman Tony Trussler told me that 47 degrees was the cut off. Since then I've checked it on a few occasions and it is a fairly accurate number.
|
I am here in Buffalo, NY with 5 degree weather. I still wouldn't expect the Villagers to sit in any of the squares with mid 40 degree temps. Stay warm friends!
|
Entertainment and vendors are cancelled in the squares if the temp drops below 45 degrees.
|
I remember in Ohio that 47 degrees was considered a warm day in the winter. This afternoon I rode the golf cart down to the mailbox and nearly froze.
|
Chuck and I were wondering if the bands would play. I can't imagine trying to play a guitar or keyboard with the wind blowing so strong and the temps so low. Also, I don't imagine too many inthe audience either.
