I like the kid too. Even though things went south on that hole he did his best to stay in it.

We really should have seen it coming. He played great in the first round but struggled, especially on the last few holes in the second and third rounds. I was really hoping that he'd play well in the good weather, but it's like what I said about the back nine of Augusta National. One bad shot or one stupid decision can lead to disaster.

Very true. I remember announcers mentioned that as well reguarding the back nine with the many water hazards and pin placements or I should say the slopes on a couple of greens theball would roll right to left and back. Augusta appears to be a very beautiful and challenging course as the past days have demonstrated.

"The Masters" what a show replete holes in one, drama every day and ending with a manifest agony of defeat. something tells me Jordan Spieth didn't sleep well last night. Can he recover? Will he?

The thing about that golf course, especially the back nine, is that there is a very fine line between a great shot and disaster. If you hit it to a spot on a green you can make birdie. Five feet left of that spot and it's almost impossible to keep the ball on the green and you are looking at a possible double bogey.

Jordan just made an unbelievable mental error on 12. It's hard for me to understand how he could completely lose his focus at that point in a tournament as important and prestigious as The Masters. The one thing that every one knows about this golf course is that, unless you are trailing and desperate, you simple hit you ball over the middle of the bunker on 12 and two put from 35 feet. When you're leading or in the hunt, you should never even think about going anywhere near the hole when it's cut on the right like that.

Jordan has always had a strong mental game. It's really surprising to me that he could have made this mistake. Of course players in that position, especially after two days of cold windy conditions, are beginning to suffer from mental fatigue. When that happens, these kind of things happen. Maybe his caddy could have slowed him down. With ll of the great communication they seem to have over every shot, it was peculiar that he hit this important shot without much discussion. He seemed to have just rushed up and hit it.

Unfortunately, this will always be remembered as The Masters that Jordan Spieth gave away rather than the one that Danny Willet won. That's unfortunate, because in the end whoever takes the fewest strokes over 72 holes is the winner. You can always woulda, coulda, shoulda, but in the end, Danny Willet shot the lowest score.

Chris Evert said that when she was first starting out in tennis, she was fearless. She just went out and played. As she got older, she had to learn to deal with defeat and indecision and develop mental toughness. I suspect that is where Jordan is right now.
