Default PGA Championship - Hope Koepka has learned a lesson in humility

When asked about his "friend" Dustin Johnsons chances for win, he implied, DJ only had one major, hmmmm!
Rory, with a little more class, said, hard to argue with DJ's record of 21 wins. Looks like there is a spillover in this world, when it comes to lack of humility.

Congrats to Collin Morikawa, and fabulous shot on 16th hole for eagle and eventual win.

I couldn't believe that Koepka interview. Not very sportsmanlike in my opinion. I was glad to see Morikawa win.

There was a bit more to the interview than this. He was asked what his chances were and he talked about how he had been in this position several times before. He stated that he had won four majors and the most anyone else in contention had won was one.

He simply spoke the truth. As far as DJ is concerned, he was right. DJ didn't win.

In order to perform at the highest level and win big events, athletes have to be extremely confident in themselves. Koepka statement was simply a result of that confidence. I'd bet if you asked DJ about it, he wasn't offended.

Congratulations to Collin Morikawa. He has had a big four weeks. Hope is continues for him.

I enjoyed Collin's face after he hit approach shot into 18 green.

Announcer: "It's a bit of a reversal. Last year you had the lead, DJ was the one coming for you. How do you feel about the reverse situation there?"

Koepka: " I like my chances. When I've been in this position before I've capitalized. He's only one won. I'm playing good. I don't know. We'll see."

Doesn't sound like anything to get upset about.

Its one thing to have self belief. Its another to trash talk and actually criticize the accomplishments of someone you're competing against, especially in golf. Golf has always been a gentlemen's sport. For what its worth, it didn't serve him well. He wasn't able to back up his trash talk, shooting 4 over, almost worst in the field in the final round, and dropping to 29th. And we're hearing from some of the other PGA players - Rory McIlroy, who is widely respected by other players, said he was "taken aback" by the interview and said its hard to knock a guy that’s got 21 wins on the PGA Tour, which is three times what Brooks has.

Did you happen to catch Paul Casey's post round interview? Pure class. He moved onto being one of my favorites list. Although part of what he said was how great it was to play with Brooks. Said he was a great sportsman even though he was struggling. Said it even helped him play better.

Side note, I know a lot of people don't like the West Coast start times as it ends so late. I actually enjoyed having golf on that late.

Yes, golfers generally are good sportsmen, speaking well about their opponents.

It's always good to treat your opponents with respect.. I don't believe he intended any malice towards Dustin. It was not oftensive, but then finding offense about anything seems to be the national pastime.

Doubful. He earned over $900,000 with his poor showing.

Sad to see how a little success can go to your head. Wasn't that long ago that Koepka was a nobody. Arrogance is not a pretty sight to see.

Also a side note is how enjoyable I find Phil Mickelson's commentaries when he joins in. Collin Morikawa's focused talent was breathtaking Sunday.

I heard exactly that in his interview. I thought what a snob. I want to like him, but when he makes remarks like that I just am annoyed.
