No defense for those idiots on 1/6. No defense for the insurrections in Ferguson, Minneapolis, Atlanta, Baltimore, etc.( Dictionary definition of an insurrection: A violent uprising against government or authority, in the latter cases, the police) No defense for Kaepernick. They could all be deposited on a deserted island somewhere.
As far as Kaepernick goes, he was the starting QB for a popular team. He had what Teddy Roosevelt called "the bully pulpit". He could have taken the microphone and made his statements. I would have preferred "America is the greatest country ever, but it is not perfect. We still have problems and these are what I think they are......."
But no, he had to disrespect America, our flag, and all those who fought and died so he could make millions throwing a ball around. Instead of a constructive conversation, he had to show "defiance" and disrespect. Useless piece of human garbage.
