World Golf Championships
I think match play golf tournaments are boring. There are not enough players to watch, and there is not enough pressure on the players to make it interesting. I would much prefer to watch a stroke play tournament. What do you think?

Agree.
Been "watching" it about 1/2 hour at a time. Can't really watch someone making a charge, moving up the leader board.

I love watching match play but I'm not thrilled about the round robin format to determine who gets into the final 16. Why not just seed the players according to their world ranking and play seven rounds of match play just like they do in the US amateur?
Trying to follow who is going to play who in the final 16 is difficult and confusing. But head to head match play is very exciting.

Generally agree with op. Every single shot is simply not as important to the overall tournament in match play as it is in medal play.

Kuchar is still in it, so, I'm a happy camper.

Match play is the oldest, purest form of golf, as the Ryder, Solheim, Walker and Presidents cups prove. Every hole has an outcome – win, lose or draw – and is a tournament in itself. The round robin format was put in place, because too many people were whining that a relatively unknown player, was quickly knocking out the more recognizable names (similar to those who don't like soccer or hockey, because of low scoring). Match play also brings more cerebral playing to the game and it's exciting watching the decisions being made, based on what your opponent is doing. Imagine the Ryder Cup changed to pure stroke play - talk about boring.

.
. personally, we are enjoying the Match Play. Nice change of pace from the "other 51 weeks of pro golf". I agree with the negatives from other folks, but IMO> Variety is the spice of life. BTW I'm pulling for Kooooch. Sunday’s semifinals Time Players 9:05 a.m. Victor Perez (31) vs. Billy Horschel (32) 9:20 a.m. Matt Kuchar (52) vs. Scottie Scheffler (30) . .

I think that yesterday's play was much more interesting and exciting than the three days of round robin.
As I said, the round robin format is confusing and difficult to follow. Neither the Golf Channel or NBC do a very good job of covering what's going on. The really need to put the brackets up on the screen and leave them for a bit longer so that we can see the potential of who will play who. But match play can be more exciting than medal play when it is covered correctly. What is more exciting than the Ryder Cup?

Granted, the conditions were herendous and windy, but play was extremely Slow, yipsters, made players look like monkeys. Fortunately my remote allowed me to change channels, phewww!

I don't how anyone can say that Sunday's matches were not exciting.
Players looked like monkeys? Horschel shot under par in those conditions and Scheffler was only one or two over. I'd like to see a one handicapper play that course in those conditions. IMHO the tough conditions made it much more exciting. I was surprised at some of the decisions that some a couple of players made.

I usually enjoy match play, but Sunday's match was simply boring. No birdies by either player after the second hole! Both of them were hitting it wildly all over the course, which can be exciting, if not frustrating. I think they start with way too many players, causing the double matches every day. I have to think that the survivors are bone tired by Sunday.
