Cannot say that I can tell the rule following dog owners by all the dead spots in their lawns due to female dogs peeing. Bushes are kind of hard to pee in for female pooches. So, most dog owners with female canines in the Villages would have dead spots from the urine. I have noticed dead spots in lawns but they look like it's from cinch bugs.

My dog usually pees at Doggie Doo Run Run. The only good sized dog park anywhere near the Villages. The dog parks do have spots of dead grass from where many dogs have peed over many days.

Yes, but further to CFrance's comment, some old dogs need to go more than once and although they have relieved themselves dutifully and responsibly before they have left the comfort of their own domain, the excitement? the joy? the relaxation? of the walk brings on another moment when they need to relieve themselves. It happens ...to the best of us.

As a dog owner who walks the dog, I ALWAYS relive myself before I go for a walk.

My pooch has to mark his territory while taking a walk by going at every other place some other dog has pee'd. So, I rarely take him on walks in Lynnhaven because he has to stop and pee every ten feet. It takes a half hour to go 600 yards unless he is all out of pee.

Seldom though are there any bald spots on lawns where all these neighborhood dogs have been marking their territory.

That's why you have you dog on a leash, so you can control where they go. Our dogs may want to go an a neighbor's lawn to explore or whatever but they're not allowed to

Have you ever seen a dog being pulled along on a leash and peeing simultaneously? If they have to go, they go. As for my comment, I think that is why they make a product called Depends because some people can't control themselves either. Maybe we should put the Depends on the dogs when they go walking. This thread has really gotten watered down to the lowest common denominator. Time to move on.

Really do not believe that people that say their dogs never pee in others' yards here in the Villages. Unless you have an invisible fence and keep your dogs at home all the time; there is no way a dog will not pee somewhere where he or she smells another dog's urine.

Our dogs DO NOT use neighbors' yards for a latrine. I don't have these 30 ft. leashes, we use an ordinary leash so I control where the dogs go. We have one small dog and one large one. If I don't allow them on a lawn they don't go there.This is not a difficult concept. I control the dogs, they are never in command. What they want to do and what they're allowed to do are not the same.

There is a product that can be placed on a dog that catches the pee. I've seen this used on unnumbered males in fostered situations.
