Can also use a quality authentic German restaurant.

Takis near Bealls on 441 north. It’s in the area with Firehouse subs and Marcos Pizza. Just went to a luncheon there. My husband was Greek and the food isn’t as good as his YiaYia’s it’s not bad

With enough ouzo you won't care!

Nope not enough Ouzo in any Greek household, would make one care less about poorly prepared Greek cuisine. One really needs to travel to Tarpon for all things Greek. |

As I said - it's okay. It's not good, but it's okay. No idea what's up with their idea of salad - SHREDDED lettuce - with feta cheese, a pepperoncini, a couple of kalamata olives (with the pits still inside), and their idea of greek dressing which seems to be white vinegar and olive oil and maybe some garlic salt and pepper? It was pretty horrible. I mean who eats shredded lettuce other than on a sub? Their meatball subs were pretty bad. The lasagna was decent, they have good meat sauce for it. But it's not really lasagna. It's pastitsio, without the bechamel on top. |

Takis in Lady Lake, just north of Lowe's.
Greek name; but mostly lousy Italian and a few Greek dishes. I like the more expensive combo, everything pretty good Greek, but request the meat not cooked to hell0. I ask for medium, not freakin beyond well done (their modus operadi). Garlic knots with Greek dinner. NO ! Always argue with dum-arse servers; pita bread = greek. (garlic/butter with Italian - maybe). OK, if you want pita, I'll do a side order for you - $4.00 extra. NO ! I want greek bread with a Greek dinner. "NO ! I have to charge you extra." facepalm Their Italian food is an insult to Italian food. And anemic white rolls with margarine and garlic powder poured on top does non equate to decent Italian bread. I only go there for the Greek when I feel like arguing with idiots. |
Takis on 441 by the Lowe's is a very good Greek/Italian restaurant. Best of both worlds.

Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church
4705 W Gulf to Lake Highway, Locanto Not as far away as it sounds.
They do a Friday dinner from 3:30 to 6:30. Its a fish dinner and a changing greek dish. They do have a website so you can check in advance. Their Greek Festival is also very good. |
Greek Restaurant
Don't know Greek food per se, but Stavro's on Rt 441, Fruitland Park is Greek/Italian. Give it a try and report back.
|
We moved from an area that had a large Greek community and loved the food. Unfortunately, the "Greek" food we've tried in and around the Villages is no comparison. Would strongly recommend, as other here have, going to Tarpon Springs for authentic Greek.
