Default Tarpon Springs

Our favorite is Mama's. Grecian fish, yum.

Tarpon Springs is the place in Florida for Greek food. That being said, if they are not good they will not last long. We go there at least 4 times a year and have tried almost every place along the sponge docks. Never had a bad meal anywhere. Also, while there do not forget to buy some of the goats milk and olive oil scented soaps with natural sponges.

Helle (sp) is great! I've only had Moussaka there (plus dessert) but I'll be going back there for more soon.

That's because they advertise on Yelp. The Villages Gourmet Club website lists 4. We have eaten at all of them.
Yes Hellas caters to the toursits but the locals eat there too. Why? Because the food is authentic, the service is fine and the bakery is wonderful. You won't be sorry eating at any of those places.
BTW there's the docks area (Dodecanese Blvd.), where the tourists hang out and the downtown area (Tarpon Ave.) with the locals. They are a few blocks apart.

Enjoy,

I may be recommending a place that's already been recommended, as I cannot remember the name. It's a fairly large restaurant with an awesome bakery attached on the left side of the road on the main drag as you head west from Route 19. I guess it is touristy, but the food, the presentation, and the service are outstanding.

Good food is much more important than atmosphere to us. TIA
Go to Hellas. It's EXCELLENT!

Looks good. We left that area in 2005 to move to the Villages. My Dad raved about a small place in Tarpon Springs but I will have to do some research to see if it is still open.
The place across from Dimitri's is also good. Many locals there.

We didn't care for the dishes we got at Mamas. We really liked Mykonos. Mykonos also selsl their bread which is huge (really long), delish, and reasonably priced. Take a loaf home with you.
