Why do they call them "hamburgers"? Do they contain ham?

No! They are said to originate in Hamburg, Germany.

Now ask me about the frankfurter!

Another vote for Glenview for burgers, especially on Saturdays :)

In TV: Glenview.

Short drive outside: 110th Street Grille in Belleview (same owner as Glenview, we're told).

Longer drive: The Breakers Restaurant in New Smyrna Beach. Right on the ocean - well worth the drive!

Bill :)

That is a great burger and a better view .... their fish sammie is so fresh it had scales 5 mins before it hits your plate. :D

I gotta admit .... the burger at my local Beef's is not to shabby. Not as rare as I would like it, but not to bad.

I need to try Glenview .... prob this Sat for the special.

I suppose the frankfurter originated in Frankfurt, Germany. :)

Will have to try some of the suggestions...our favorite cheeseburger in TV is at Cane Garden. However, the hostesses at Cane Garden are not very friendly...never crack a smile and God help you if you don't like where they seat you and ask for another empty table!

I agree with jblum. The patty melt at Evans Prairie. Sauteed onions. Ymmm good.

Ditto........I agree. Nothing like making them yourselves.....and char grilling or gas grilling..........

Don't forget to slice up some nice Vidalia onions to saute.....for top of burgers. I do mine in the kitchen while hubby is grilling out on the deck, but you could do them on the grill............

You can mix up your own "secret sauce" if you crave that........
Basically, it's mayo and ketchup mixed; throw in some seasoning if you wish.

You won't get salmonella or whatever this way.............grill it to your own preferences.

At least you will know that you washed your hands prior to making them.

Are you teasing? For a guy who reads as much as you do......??

They originated in Hamburg Germany.......or so it has been said.

We should do the research and see for sure.

p.s. I've never had a hamburger with actual ham in it (since you are so literal).

110th Street Grill in Belleview. Best by far

Worst thing you can do to a hamburger is put it on a fire grill. All the great chefs will tell you that you lose the most "burger" taste that way. Flat grills are the best where the burger cooks in its own juices!

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Ramshackle in Leesburg. I like medium rare burgers and these guys know how to make em!
