IMHO, Publix, McCalls and Metro Diner, at this time, but am still looking. I wish I could find a really good place that I liked that cooks chicken like the restaurants used to many years ago.

McCall's at Spanish Springs Lanes is good.

In the absence of a Piggly Wiggly, the best fried chicken is always going to be at some little gas station. I can attest to the yummyness of the fried chicken livers at the gas station at the crossroads in Pedro.

If you're down in the Sarasota area, there are a handful of Amish restaurants that don't exactly fry chicken "southern" style, but they do make very, very good fried chicken. Yoders and Der Dutchman come to mind (as I've eaten at both in the last week!).

Big Der Dutchman fan! McCalls is excellent IMO.

McCall's Tavern in Spanish Springs. They tell you when you order it to be patient and that it takes 25 mins.

Definately McCall's is the best fried chicken worth the wait.

Another vote for McCall's.

McCall’s here also. Order with your drink order to cut down the wait time. It is worth the extra few minutes!

I believe the secret to McCall's chicken is the pressure fryer. I was told they have one of these ancient devices. Day of old many a diner had this device that looked like a stainless steel cooler with a big ships wheel on top. The chicken is fried under pressure. Crisp on the outside juicy on the inside. Anyone else remember these monstrosities ?
