There is acceptable pizza here...so don’t be a pizza snob because for every good place in the old neighborhood there was some place with the same slop as here. |
You have not tried LEDO's in Tampa, St.Petersburg, or Clearwater yet. This is out of Wash, DC franchise and anyone from the College Park area of MD will know where I am talking about. My daughters live in Tampa(1 1/2 hours away) and each time they visit they are required to bring pizza with them! So I can say the whole state is not devoid of good pizza but central Florida seems to be. I will say Bravos in Sumter Landing is a fair substitute for boardwalk pizza but other than that all the rest of these places everyone mentions, examples: Flippers, Giovannis, Bellviewe pizza, all taste to me like the mall pizza from Sabarros. Am I wrong??

I love the frozen pizza , Home Run. It is thin and crispy with a great tasting crust-not at all like bread dough. Publix has it.
|
Pizza is like beauty, it's in the eye of the beholder. Everyones tastes are different, just look at some of the decor in the open houses for sale. Would you take a pizza recommendation from some of those home owners?

De Lorenzo's Tomato Pies is a pizzeria that sells Trenton tomato pies in Robbinsville, New Jersey. It was founded in 1936 by Alexander "Chick" De Lorenzo and officially established in 1947 in Trenton, New Jersey.
If you know the place, let me know. |

Just had pizza at Havana country Club..it had a great crust and tasted good..being a New Yorker it’s really tuff to eat pizza in Florida..tried all the places listed here.also like Vincent’s in Leesburg....pizza in The Bronx always The Best
|
Brooklyn in Melbourne is good. Ledo's is a decent chain pizza. In TV not much. NYPD is OK, but just OK. Flippers, Bravo's, I can at least eat it, but not good. Best around here is Big Bob's in Okalawaha.

La Rosa's and Donato's has my vote. The best pizza is always from your own home town.
LaRosa's has a bit of sweetness in the sauce and Donato's pepperoni is cut super thin and is crispy when baked. YUM. |

And except for Arthur Ave and Tosca’s on East Tremont, you might be disappointed by pizza in the Bronx today. I remember when you could buy a small pizza for $.90 and a large pie for $1.20. |

Giordano’s in Orlando!
Quote:
Giordano’s pizza is amazing. It takes 45 minutes to prepare/bake. We always call ahead. It is loaded with cheese and has a wonderful crisp thick crust. Chicago style pizza at it’s finest. They have several Orlando locations and they also will ship.....if only there were one here in The Villages...sigh! Wait! It’s probably a good thing that there isn’t one closer. We would over indulge for sure!!! |

The Italian pavillion in EPCOT has excellent pizza. Very expensive but delicious IMO.

Knew an old pizza guy. Told me he made more money when he charged a quarter a slice than when it went above a $1 |

I might have to just get the recipe from our local guy before we move south, and make my own pizza if it's true that there's no good pizza in TV. |

We've grown to like Chef's of Napoli on 301.

I just took a look at the menu on their website. Other than salads, the entire menu is a huge carbo-load. Even if you get the chicken parm without the pasta on the side, it's still breaded. However, if you are allowed to substitute a salad for the pasta, it'd be a "lower" carb meal. Not low-carb, but lower. Maybe a once in awhile treat, unless you have some medical reason not to consume starches.
|
IMHO - Chef's of Napoli sausage peppers and onions pizza.

Gio Deli on 301 just north of 466 is the best outside of Regina's in the North End in Boston or Riccardi's in New Bedford!

My wife and I have never been disappointed with Flippers new location on 44 near Brownwood. They make a good pizza. I lived in Philadelphia and its's environs for the first half of my life, eg., a good pizzeria or two in every neighborhood or suburban town. This is buy a quart of beer and pick up a pizza territory. Flippers is just fine.
|
Chi-Town, that looks like an Aurellio’s pizza. Our absolute favorite. Originated south Chicago in Homewood, Illinois. It is now franchised and the closest is Naples. Went back “home” last month and couldn’t wait to get my Aurellio’s pizza. The secret is the sweeter sauce. Nothing like it here, and believe me, we’ve tried them all. The square pieces are called “tavern cut.” - pretty typical in Chicago. Personally, I prefer it to the wedge. Oooh, I miss my pizza.....

Agree....Bravos was not the best especially for the cost and.....much rather Giovanni's |
Pizza
While attending college in Northern NJ I loved the pizza on Times Square NYC. None better. Wonder what it is like today? While not like what I would call old fashion Pizza I give my vote to Mallory CC.
|
Mallory CC pizza is good, but I prefer the pizza at Cane Garden. Very thin and always consistent. Some pizza places are not consistent in the way the pizza is prepared. I hate when you get a pizza that has almost no sauce, but it seems to happen a lot.
|
Try STAVROS on 441.
|
I love pizza and originally come from the Utica, NY area, which has some of the best pizza restaurants in the world, due to it's large Italian-American population. I have been mostly disappointed in the pizza here, but find that Flippers is edible, if not great. The pizza at Francesco's in Summerfield is very good, but it's just too far to drive for take-out. When we go there for dinner I generally get the Bronx Bomber pizza and a bowl of Italian Wedding Soup. I'm getting hungry thinking about it. Mallory is OK, and I've heard from several people that NYPD is the best in The Villages, but I haven't tried it yet. I just can't do Papa Johns or any other large pizza chain.

Mallory....

My wife and I also like Francesco's. They have a daily 2 for 1 take out deal for pizza and pasta. You can also mix and match.

I also like Bravo, but it’s apples and oranges. |
