The BEST pizza is in Italy! Especially Da Maria in Amalfi or almost anything in Napoli. So sad most Americans, even those with Italian heritage, have no clue what REAL pizza is. Ducking now to avoid the arrows

To me, there is a BIG DIFFERENCE between a fresh pizza eaten at the restaurant vs the same one sitting in a box for 15 minutes. If you like steamed pizza, go the take-out route.

Absolutely correct. Some pizzas do better than others in the box but they all suffer from the experience. Giovanni’s pizza for one is ok in the restaurant but acquires a cardboard taste from transport home. Bravo’s does better in the box but still not the same as eating it fresh from the oven.

On our multi-day, leisurely, coastal drive from Portovenere down to Rome, we kept seeming to find one family pizza place...that was even better than the last.
