Exactly!!!!

It shouldn’t matter what you order. Fish is on the menu and so is the higher price. It should have been just as great as steak. Not everybody wants steak in a party of two or more thus the reason fish is there. .

Agree 100%!! The old saw of "don't order fish at a meat house" is out dated for even average restaurants. Fish on the menu is the restaurant telling the customer that they know how to prepare it correctly. If they can't, then they have no business putting it on the menu in the first place. It also is not a case of wanting fish. Many folks have other reasons where meat may not be a dietary option. No excuses for poor food production.

Some have referred to the Chop House as a "steak house". If you got to an actual steak house such as Morton's, Ruth's Chris, Flemings, etc.and ask them what is their best steak, the answer is the rib eye.

Chop House doesn't have a rib eye on the menu. Only 3 types of steaks on the menu. It's not even close to being considered what one would call a steak house.

Their Delmonico is better than any rib eye I have eaten. I have eaten in the top steak houses in NYC, Chicago, San Francisco and Dallas.

If you are such a steak aficionado then it is surprising that you did not acknowledge that often a Delmonico steak *is* a rib eye. Not always, but often, and perhaps that is what Chop House is serving. Now if a Chop House rib eye/Delmonico is better than any rib eye you have eaten in the top steak houses then that says a lot about the Chop House.

I agree! The food on Oceania is fantastic!

From the Google Machine: "The ribeye comes from the rib section, while the Delmonico is cut from the short loin that lies back of the ribs but ahead of what we now call the sirloin area"...

Sounds like they are not the same thing at all...

Depends which Google Machine you use: "Sure, "the Delmonico" is attributed to several cuts of meat, depending on whom you ask. But these days, it's the rib-eye steak that's most frequently used interchangeably with the term "Delmonico steak."

Sounds like frequently, but not always, a Delmonico *is* a rib eye.

But hey, let's say the Chop House actually uses a lesser cut of meat for their Delmonico. *If* that is the case then it says even more about the Chop House that they can take that lesser cut and prepare it better than the rib eye served in the top steak houses.

Could you please show me the Google Search that claims that? Thanks in advance...

I'll show you mine if you show me yours...

delmonico vs ribeye - Google Search

From one of the results of your search: "Delmonico's Restaurant is still in business, and on their menu, the Delmonico steak is a boneless ribeye. "

My search was "are delmonico steaks the same as ribeye" and the result I chose was from eHow.

Yep, chose the result that supports my position, but it *is* a result from the Google Machine.

Why would you title this thread as “Beware”? That implies some devious deed or scam. Nothing scammy or devious about your experience. This price may have been high, but then again, you didn’t ask. Yes they screwed up on the broccoli. Just a mistake. At least they caught the error on the swordfish preparation and recooked it instead of delivering a poorly prepared dish to the table, hoping you wouldn’t catch it or complain.

I ordered the catch of the day which was sword fish along with potato and broccoli. When our meals were delivered, mine was not. The server said that it was not prepared as I ordered and it would be out soon. It finally arrived (partially) when everyone else had eaten almost half or more of theirs. The broccolli was not on the plate and it would be out momentarily. It actually never came. The final insult was when the bill was presented. The charge for the sword fish was $38.00 for a relatively small portion. We know that prices are rising but to get poor service at a premium price is very disappointing.

My girlfriend and I ate there last night. Everything was perfect from the food to the service. I suggest you give it one more try.

Gas prices effect everything. Boat gas around $7.00

Unfortunate but rare experience

Sorry you had a poor experience
We have been going to Chop House since it’s opening and never had a bad experience
