The point is that some of the comments are from people who have not been there and are just making assumptions.

I'm going tomorrow. I will give you the real story. Standby for further developments.

I don't make the news, I report it!

One of the guys who is going with us has been in the Management side of the Food business all over the country so we'll see what he says also. He is very

opinionated when we go out. I go out to eat and enjoy the company of others, he is timing people???? It was his life before he retired. Whatever.

No one likes everything and some are more particular or have different tastes than others. If, in your opinion, every restaurant in the free world is lacking, that is fine. What is not so fine is when you imply or outright state that others that do not agree with you lack sophistication, discernment, or are rubes you cross a line between opinion and judgement. I don't think most people that like things that you, or I, don't like are somehow less worthy, but simply they have a different tolerance and palate. I have a spouse that would not touch sushi, no matter how high the quality or price - I accept that just as she accepts that I hate beef liver, which she adores. We could all use a little more acceptance and understanding for others, and not just in the realm of food. FWIW, I am happy with several of the "country club" restaurants in The Villages - many good, tasty choices and reasonable prices - plus we don't dirty the kitchen. If you disagree; cool, just don't tell me I'm wrong.

Thank you for a big dose of 'reasonable adultness'. I believe my wife and I would enjoy your company over dinner at the new venue. PM if interested. (now I have to figure out how to retrieve PM's)

So the hand grenade has been thrown once again. Glad I’m not as picky as others. Knew it wouldn’t take long but J’ll draw my own conclusion when I get down that way

Aloha 1, know you lived in Kapalua-- spent a few weeks @ Kapalua Bay back in 81'--@ least you can understand what we considered fine dining-- the Admiral cried when we went back to the main land

Stayed at Kapalua twice - the seafood and fruit was suburb - As for meat, Ill take Kansas City beef every time (not to mention barbeque).

Hello there, your regular no pinky finger sticking out, run of the mill, garden variety Villager. We went today to Bluefin, Mrs. Nucky and myself were more than happy with the entire experience and the food was BEAUTIFUL AND DELICIOUS! We were a party of 6, 3 were thrilled 1 was inconclusive and the two who know about the restaurant business were not impressed. They really are nice people but little things that they get hung up on don't matter to us. We will definitely return many, many more times. For the quality and taste of the food compared to the prices I think its a great bang for the buck and the place is really nice and the service was great. The only thing they screwed up was the appetizer of the guy who knows about the food business and they didn't tell him until everyone else was served. Ooops! I gave him some of my Calamari and he handled it well, I don't know if they fixed up his bill for the mistake.

The only thing wrong was that they are new and getting their act together, they don't have far to go to be perfect.

What was the name of the business in that spot before the German Restaurant?

P.S. we went at about 3.30 and it was not crowded, when we departed the line was long. The customers seemed very happy.

Before the German Restaurant it was something like Cous Cous. Not that, but a double word I think. It meant little dabs and bites and servings of Spanish stuff. (?) I didn't like it.. What WAS the name??? It didn't fly, maybe I am not as dumb as I look. (NOBODY ANSWER THAT ESPECIALLY THE MEAN GUYS) CFrance will remember it's name, she and many others loved it. It didn't ring my chimes.

Everyone knows tapas. It was a tapas restaurant which had a good tasty selection but no idea about spacing them and no good wine. Doomed from the get-go

I do indeed. I've also been in foodservice for over 31 years. Hawai'ian fish has to rank as some of the best in the world. When the former owner of Hemmingway's ( now Havana) stopped bringing in fish from Honolulu Fish Company, we were very disappointed.

That said, you work with what you have here. I'm hopeful Bluefin will expand the fresh catch to include Triple Tail, Yellow Snapper, Grouper, etc. As others have pointed out, we're only an hour and a half from the sea on either side.

Yeah, Maui is not the place for steak except for Ruth Chris in Lahaina.
