Default Bourbon Street as of our June 9 visit

We hadn't been there for quite some time and despite warnings from friends, we stopped in for lunch. We should have listened to our friends.

First of all service was slow slow slow. The big foul up though was my wife's meal. She ordered a sandwich which was called some sort of dip (similar in concept to a French dip). Never mind that the advertised cheese was not on the sandwich and that the bread did not hold together. My wife asked the server about the dipping sauce. "Oh, sorry." Later, still without the dipping sauce, we saw the waitress cashing other customers out. I asked where the sauce was, mentioning that by now the sandwich was cold. Well, the sauce was no good so the cook was making some more. Finally it did arrive, appearing very much like dirty dish water. My wife, a very easy-to-please customer usually, said at first the sauce had no flavor, but later amended that to say it had a "weird taste." One spoonful was more that enough. The waitress assured me that she would "take care" of this problem. And then she disappeared and we were cashed out by the hostess.

Sounds similar to me. My wife ordered the bacon burger with cheese. No cheese. The wife said where is the cheese. The waitress went to check. Never got the cheese. My sausage sandwich was dry and the bread was over crisped.

After we were done, we could never lasso the waitress for our check. She did the table next to us twice before we got her attention. Someone else finally brought over the check and I put the money on the tray. The waitress finally came over to take it with an "i have been looking all over for that". If she had been looking instead of flirting with the bartender I might have believed her. I gave her two twenties for a 19.27 bill and asked her to break the second twenty. She did but I never saw the 73 cents change from the first 20. I left her a $3 tip but should have left $2.

Won't go back.

I posted earlier saying Bourbon Street was over priced and food was poor. I have a feeling it is the next restaurant to go. When it was italian it was so much better.

The original restaurant, "Augustines" was outstanding for food and service. Regardless of the day of the week, it was busy, a good indication of its popularity and quality. When the villages leased it to another individual ("Toscas") both service and quality slipped until it was replaced with "Boubon Street" (another failing venture).

imho ........would love to see (probably won't happen) a return to Village operated Augustines with it's brewery, neighborhood bar and good food and service.

Tried Bourbon Street once because they are open late for dinner. Because of the late hour my wife and I both had a dinner salad with chicken. The chicken was dry and the lettuce had lots of browned edges. Will never go back. Although the service was surprisingly good.
