I think I'm confused. If some people say anchovies belong in the salad and others don't, wouldn't some restaurants think they do and others don't? When I get a garden salad it isn't always the same. Some have onions, some have carrots and radishes, some come with croutons and then some don't come with much more than lettuce.
While I agree the manager was rude, I guess the lesson is to always ask.
BTW I always ask if the rice pudding or carrot cake has raisins cause I don't like them, and some restaurants have them and some don't.
