So I went there tonight with a couple folks and had dinner. It was later then usual for dinner and we happen to have had an early lunch so was hungry. And I did the unthinkable and ordered dessert. I chose the Bourbon Street Pecan Pie with ice cream. They were out of vanilla ice cream. How is that possible? I can't imagine a restaurant running out of vanilla ice cream. And if you did, send someone out to buy two gallons. It doesn't have a short shelf life, any decent brand would be OK, and it is costing you business. If I owned that restaurant the manger would be fired on the spot. It is completely unacceptable to run out of an item that should be considered a staple.

I can promise you they will lose some % of my business. As I left I told everyone I saw, "order the vanilla ice cream" it is wonderful. Why do businesses make such simple easy to correct mistakes? Do they have so much business they don't care?

I can understand why some outsiders think Villagers are elitist or feel they are entitled people.

A restaurant runs out of vanilla ice cream and the customer swears they will lose a percentage of his business. The customer already said it was later than usual. And then to come out in public about this incident? Ridiculous??

I would like to know if the customer left a decent tip for the waitress or if he stiffed her for her part of the incompetent restaurant.

I am glad I do not know this customer. I would cross him off friends to have dinner with.

I can not beleive what I just read, a person would fire the manager because they did not get their vanilla ice cream. They would ruin a pesons life taking his/her job possibly loosing his home, car income for the family. What kind of cold hearted person
would do that because they didn't get any ice cream. Is what we have turn into in the Villages. I was at a restruant the other night that ran out of Coors so I said bring me a Bud no big deal.

Something tells me it wasn't being out of vanilla ice cream so much as the manager's attitude. She is a piece of work and should be fired -- any complaint, whether reasonable or unreasonable, is dealt with with the same attitude of how dare someone complain, the customer is always wrong and she is always her right (not necessarily her staff, but most certainly she is. Customer service is not in her vocabulary but rudeness and arrogance certainly is.

I happen to know l2 personally and I'm proud to call him a friend. He really is one of the good guys and things had to be pretty bad for him to complain at all, let alone mention it here.

Ditto.

I know he (as do I) really doesn't understand bad management. Not the only person to complain about that manager from what I've read here on TOTV. I know restaurants can't buy booze from a retailer but not sure about grocery items. It does seem like a small thing to complain about but it's the attitude (of management) that irks us all.

Reminds me L2 - we really need to get out and play 19 sometime. yes 19!
