Your Kidding me
There is no comparison between Mayo and the Village Hospital. Try having 2 misdiagnosis here and then going to Mayo for a 2nd opinion and finding not only were there mis diagnosis which were outrages but they missed 2 life threatening Cancers. One stage 3 with some spreading and which has now shown no continuation within the last year and is completely cancer free. And you ask??? Which would you like to rely on the Dr. who saw your symptons maybe 4 times in the last year or the one that has seen them 20 times in the last day. The one who has performed the operation 5 times in the last day or 3 times in the last year??Or really nuts the one that makes you wait for 1-2 hours in the waiting room or the one who has the patients seen right on schedule. There are many more reasons but will leave it there. The drive is 2 hours and 45 minutes which is kinda sensible given the alternatives.

Does Mayo charge for crisp bacon? :)
|
My husband and I had breakfast yesterday at Cane Garden. He had sausage and I had bacon. We were both charged the additional 60 cents. Apparently, they are now charging extra for meat with breakfast. We happen to like Cane Garden, so we will go back.

It's time to trim the fat on this bacon controversy, they're only trying to make ends meat and not really doing anyone any ham!!

Sorry to hijack this "bacon Post", but the price of bacon here is the least of my problems. I can drive a long way in 4 hours. |

Ummmmm Bacon, possibly the tastiest and most unhealthy food all in one greasy and delicious processed strip of nirvana. I wouldn't worry as much about the 60 cent up charge for the bacon as the cost of the triple by-pass open heart surgery.

A Bacon "Adjustment???"
Quote:
I understand that some of these items are partially cooked, however, when ordered, they must be heated to be served hot to the customer. There is no "adjustment" to serving hot food and my "dead" bacon. Trust me . . . if I was ever charged extra for my "dead" bacon, you would hear me in California in addition to having it taken off my bill. This bacon "adjustment" is outrageous! |
Holy cow.
Drop to the bottom line. All around us there are real problems. Sixty cents. I like Cane Garden, usually find something nice to eat there and ALWAYS find delightful servers. Today dawns another beautiful day in The Villages. Be happy with me. |

Seriously? Ridiculous answer. Crispy bacon should not come with an upcharge. Otherwise, reduce the price of soft scrambled eggs then, or hamburgers cooked medium. Hope the manager is taking note of these comments. They will lose business over a little extra time on the cooktop.
|
Maybe Cane Garden is trying to make up the revenue they will lose after the seasonal people leave, since they were SO rude to the year round residents ALL winter. We were even told to wait on ourselves while the help sat at a table next to us and ate and folded napkins.
|
Bethwill. I read your post and it made me angry. I cannot tell you how many times we have eaten at Cane Garden over the last ten years and never ONCE were we anything but well served. The servers who were folding napkins weren't hired to cook.
I just now called Cane Garden and by the way the person who answered the phone was aware of this thread. I asked her two questions; Is there a charge for crispy bacon....The answer was NO. Is there a $.60 charge for meat. The answer was No. The number there is 352.750.0627 if the OP would like to call and discuss the error in his bill. |

OK, OK, I get it. Way too many Villagers just like to be sarcastic with their responses.
The bacon was not 60 cents. I paid full price for the bacon with the breakfast. That was on the menu. The 60 cents on the bill was for ordering it crispy. Yes, the food at Cane Gardens is indeed great, especially breakfast, AND I will go back. My only concern was why a charge for making it crispy, Never heard of such a thing, anywhere! And, NOT indicated on the menu. AND, I do indeed love living in The Villages, I never indicated that I did not. Lets all calm down and not try to read between the lines on comments on this forum. OK, I had my rebuttal time. Lets just move on. |
Clarification
Dave you are wrong. You ordered a meal that did not include bacon or any other meat. Listed on the menu below the description are the add on's. The 60 cent charge was for the bacon you ordered (a very reasonable price for two pieces of bacon I might add). The description on you receipt was to be sure you got well done bacon. The 60 cent charge was for the bacon you ordered. I really do believe you owe the people at Cane Garden an apology. You most certainly were not charged extra to get the bacon well done.

Bacon
Dave my comments are only accurate if it was the Mcllory that you ordered.

After stirring up this pot you want to move on? No, you need to speak with the manager at Cane and tell us what you find out............. |
