OK, OK, I get it. Way too many Villagers just like to be sarcastic with their responses.

The bacon was not 60 cents. I paid full price for the bacon with the breakfast. That was on the menu. The 60 cents on the bill was for ordering it crispy. Yes, the food at Cane Gardens is indeed great, especially breakfast, AND I will go back. My only concern was why a charge for making it crispy, Never heard of such a thing, anywhere! And, NOT indicated on the menu.

AND, I do indeed love living in The Villages, I never indicated that I did not. Lets all calm down and not try to read between the lines on comments on this forum. OK, I had my rebuttal time. Lets just move on.

Clarification

Dave you are wrong. You ordered a meal that did not include bacon or any other meat. Listed on the menu below the description are the add on's. The 60 cent charge was for the bacon you ordered (a very reasonable price for two pieces of bacon I might add). The description on you receipt was to be sure you got well done bacon. The 60 cent charge was for the bacon you ordered. I really do believe you owe the people at Cane Garden an apology. You most certainly were not charged extra to get the bacon well done.

Bacon

Dave my comments are only accurate if it was the Mcllory that you ordered.

And rather than ask the manager at Cane, you came on social media. Posted a rather odd post and got replies that you were not expecting. And now you blame the posters for responding?
After stirring up this pot you want to move on? No, you need to speak with the manager at Cane and tell us what you find out.............

That's what I was referring to in another post and figured that's more likely what happened. Many restaurants offer several options for breakfast entrees - some with meat or not, some with pancakes or not, etc, for varying prices. You also can order an entree and sometimes add an item for an upcharge versus paying for it as an additional side item. A 60 cent upcharge to add an item like bacon to a selected entree is actually a bargain compared to having to purchase it as a side to an entree for $2.99.

In defense of Dave, the menu for The Mcllroy meal is very confusing and lacks proper punctuation. Apparently, he ordered the Mcllroy meal with bacon for $6.99 instead of $6.39 without the bacon, a difference of $.60. No charge to make it crispy. Here is the menu:

The Mcllroy 6.39
Two eggs with choice of home fries or hash browns and apple fritters with choice of one or two slices of toast or Biscuit With two bacon strips…$6.99 With two sausage patties…$6.99 With corned beef hash…$7.79 Add Two small cakes instead of biscuit or toast…$2.00 extra

You've always brought home the bacon, Dave.
Just fry it yourself.

Doesn't make sense. On their online menu, 3 strips of bacon is a side item for $2.99.

so If 3 strips of bacon =$2.99 (side order)
But 2 strips of bacon =$.60 ( over the McIlroy without meat)

You saved $2.39 but not having the 3rd strip of bacon !

Just got back from the Cane, hope this puts everything into clarity--with basic breakfast it is stated meats are 60 cents extra, the bill stated the charge was for crispy bacon--in all actuallity the charge was for the meat, NOT EXTRA CRISPY. also you can get a loaf of bread toasted piece by piece no extra charge

To the the OP see your optometrist

Doesn't seem confusing to me

HELP MEEEEEE! Somebody please! I cannot stop reading this thread. Aaaaaugh!!

I like the servers at Cane Garden. They are always nice to us. (I gotta tellya though — I would love to go undercover as a server in TV. It has to be quite a study of human nature within a relatively confined demographic.)

And, btw, Shameless Confession: Cane has the best onion rings ever! Ohhhhhhhh, please do not judge me for eating onion rings.

Ohhhhhh, nooooooo, now I am posting in this thread. Whatinthehellisthematterwithme??? — Maybe I should get a job so I would have to go to work and I could stop reading this thread. Hmmmmmmmm, just think, the next server you meet could be Undercover Boomer.

And, Undercover Boomer.

This could be a reality series. Can I have the rights if I let you borrow my Timeshare Pick-up truck?

i.e.
This week Undercover Boomer works in the new Mexican Restaurant to see where they are hiding the tamales.
