Gulf grouper dinner at Wolfgang Puck's is $26, 12 oz New York Strip is $34. Those are the two highest priced items on the menu.

The Grouper is very good and comes with some rice. At Chop I am sure the oiece was bigger and it came with 3 shrimp or scallops, 2 generous ides and brea service. Totally different.

Not trying to be rude, but why didn't you ask for price on Special? Seems like you were worried about price to begin with? Hopefully you still had a nice Anniversary

Default The ongoing saga of the $43 grouper..!

Sometimes people are shy to ask for things. In the grouper case, the guest should have asked, because he was very upset with the outcome. But it’s not always easy to ask, especially when celebrating a wedding anniversary. I just think he was genuinely shocked. Lesson learned, he’ll ask next time. BTW— as a courtesy, the server should have been trained to Tell the price of the Special, to alleviate worry.

Right, same here. Don't think I've ever got a pound for $23, but few weeks ago over at Atlantic and Charlies was $29 a pound. Up a bit from the average $26 I was used to. The REAL consideration is, yes, when you buy fresh, YOU have to prepare it, but the reward is, when you purchase fresh you can tell if it is the REAL thing (not monk or some other imitation right ?), but once cooked, sauced, served in a restaurant.... well, few in Florida are eating the genuine article, but many are paying for it that's for sure !

So you ordered something without knowing or asking the price and it's the restaurant's fault?

Do you often buy things without knowing the price?

I asked the waitress why she didn’t tell us the price when she described the special (I would never have ordered it if I had known it was $43), she said they only tell you prices if you ask. So I am posting this to advise you that if you order a special at the Chop House, ask the price before ordering!! We will never go there again after this experience.
Good thing you enjoyed seafood before Chinese dredge the ocean dry. No not shocked.

I don’t go to restaurant’s that don’t show price. Why? It’s overpriced and they are too embarrassed to list the price.

Well yes and no. I see your point. But, these “specials” can get pricey.
