The shrimp and scallops sides are listed at about $23 on the menu so grouper for $20 seems reasonable.

Chop House always delivers on quantity, taste, presentation, service and ambiance. Best restaurant around but certainly not cheap. You should have asked the price. That said, happy anniversary.

If you look at their menu, there are items at market price. Would you not ask what the market price was before you ordered? Their dinners are in the $30 range and up.
Exactly. I do the same. Would you buy anything in life without knowing the cost? Plus, this place isnt your local diner so why would you expect cheap prices.

Happy Anniversary! But I sure feel for you with this non expressed price. Some clothes stores do that on their garments too where I live. Can't stand having to ask.

Chop House is our favorite restaurant in the Villages. We go about once a month for “special Occasions “ and date night.
Expensive yes but the service, quality and delightful ambiance is worth it to us.
And we do ask about price of a special

Happy anniversary and may you be blessed with many more!! That said, the Chop House is a higher end restaurant (though maybe not the most expensive). You know, because everything is ala cart, or just about everything. I would ask the price as generally when ordering something I'll have an A or a B just in case. I don't always order by what it will cost but surprises are never fun neither. Whenever we've been there we've been quite satisfied with the food, the service and NO surprises with what it cost.

Not quoting the price seems to be the norm in most restaurants. Ask before you order.

Guess you never eat in high end restaurants. Very few of them tell you the prices. You have to ask.

Better than average restaurants do charge more to be able to provide what the market wants.
I am all for a "better" restaurant in TV and willing to pay when I decide to go there.

We just had their lamb shank and pork chop which used to be great —terrible. On the other hand their sister restaurant Blue Fin remains good and consistent. ???

We also ate at The Chop House last. Our waiter stated the grouper special price was $34. We had an excellent meal and experience.

Unfortunately lots of restaurants pull that scam. Specials are often a way to get rid of unwanted or leftover food....they probably had the grouper for a few days and came up with a special to get rid of it. Rule of thumb - order off the menu.
