The thread is "Restaurant Discussions", not Restaurant Reviews - this is TOTV, not the Michelin Guide

If people have a comment about a restaurant, they post it here, and if I want to know what fellow TOTVers think, I read it here

Yet, almost without exception, such a post triggers a charge from the conspiracy theorists who can't believe that someone would dare to insult their favorite eating place.

I am delighted that you have had wonderful experiences there - fabulous food, impeccable service, not a spoon out of place - but nowhere is perfect and I, for one, would like to know when things go wrong as well.

Really, what is the likelihood that a disgruntled employee even subscribes to TOTV, let alone thinks that posting about a fan problem will cause everyone to desert the place and send his evil employer to the poor-house?

I don't recall seeing a positive restaurant post met with a tirade of posts about how it must be the manager trying to drum up business.

So, unless something is clearly amiss, let's assume that people post the truth.

Well said. My wife made the mistake of posting a negative report about a dining experience she had at Glenview CC and she was immediately pounced on by the mob.

She was accused of being a disgruntled ex-employee--no, she is a nurse who was taking her 84 year old mother out to lunch.

She was asked if she contacted the manager--she mentioned she did in her initial post. The manager was less than helpful and my wife was was told essentially "that couldn't have been the manager because I know the manager and he is a good guy."

Someone said that it is usually the "attitude" of the poster that leads to poor service--I love my wife, but she is the biggest wimp I know. For her to get up the courage to talk with a manager, SOMETHING had to be seriously wrong.

What bothers me the most about this type of response is that it deters people from giving their actual opinion. My wife no longer wants to have anything to do with TOTV because of the nasty remarks she received for giving her honest opinion about the poor service she received at a restaurant. That is unfortunate.

Hi, Captain Jon, I read your post, and just wanted to say to Stacy that I hope she will reconsider and share on the forum. There is so much to gain from the information that is given and received by all of us. At times there are misunderstandings such as Stacy experienced, and I can understand how she felt. I believe that people on TOTV are goodhearted folks, and sometimes acting out of good intentions on behalf of others who are being seen by them, whether correctly or not, as being wronged, unintended hurt feelings can occur. All of us have seen that happen at times; and it probably can't always be avoided. I guess what I'm saying is that when feelings are genuinely hurt on this forum, that is almost for sure not what was intended by the person who sent the message; so it helps if we try to look at it that way; and let it go after a while; let bygones be bygones. There are too many friendships to miss out on otherwise, from this forum.

In the long run, this is such a wonderful place for the people that come together here; it would be a shame for Stacy not to be a part of that, and for the forum to miss out on the benefit of her input; and I feel that others would share my hope that she will join in, as a welcomed member of the forum.

Thanks for he kind words, I will be sure to pass on the message. I think she is coming around and hopefully she'll be back posting soon. I tend to agree with you, most people do not intentionally post to hurt other people's feelings, but the written word does carry a lot of power and can produce just as much pain as a slap in the face. Sometimes people should think things out before they put their fingers to their keyboard.

Must be the building as the Fish joint that was there before Cody's was also putrid!

I'm not a fan of Codys, but I wouldn't call the food crappy. Codys is often lined up out the door! I did love 'Up The Creek' previous to Codys. I'm astonished that anyone would label both restaurants as putrid!

Cody's is one of my favorites here in The Villages. Try the "After Church Specials" on Sunday from 11 am until 3 pm. Complete (and very good) meal for $7.99. Drinks are 2 for 1 from opening until 7 pm.

Codys

I also had a bad experience my last visit. Having the windows open made the seating in the Bar area HOT!!!! I guess we should have changed tables because we where there to eat not drink and smoke.....it almost became unbearable.

On our first night ever in the Villages in May we ate at Cody's. I ordered a steak and it was not edible. Last week we were in the Villages again and were told to try the bar food. We did and I enjoyed the ribs and onion rings. My wife had the small cheeseburger which was very tasty. We went back again for lunch later that week and had another good experience. Cody's is what it is a good stop for some cheap tasty bar food, and not the best choice if you want a good steak.

We have decided to try Cody's during our Oct. visit. Meeting some Lady Lake friends and the wife's brother and SIL too. Good times. Will let ya'll know how we fare.

I think that's a resonable way to approach things Max.

Personally I prefer to try a place at least twice if the first time was bad. Do I take other opinions into consideration? Of course. But all that would do for me is to confirm my own bad experience if that happened.

I like what Max did - first visit, not good - next two he found what that bar/restaruant does well.

Makes sense, if you feel there is potential from the first visit. :icon_hungry:

I agree. Sometimes a place warrants a second visit. At other times I write the place off of my list unless friends give it a big A-OK and convince me to try it again.

I need to heed the "try again" advice for the Mexican restaurant in Colony Plaza. We tried it during the first week of it's opening and the food was cold. Haven't gone back but need to. Thanks for reminding me that one bad meal may not be the norm.

All good at Cody's now. Getting rid of Sandy was one of the best decissions they could have made.
