I like Cody's very much and will go back often.

That being said I was in there tonight about 8:15 the bar inside was full. I was by myself and wanted to watch the NBA game on TV and have a steak. I asked if I could sit at a table in front of the TV that had the game on that I wanted to see. There were 6 empty tables in the bar area again the bars itself was full and I asked if I could sit at the table and have a steak. I was told there was one seat at the outside bar and I said I wasn't interested in sitting in the smoking area. They called a lady over who must of been in charge and she again said that a single could not be seated at a table in the bar. I said there are 6 empty tables and I would not have even asked if they only had a couple of tables open. I left and went elsewhere and ate. I sure would have rather had a steak at Cody's and will get one there perhaps tomorrow night.

I do think that common since should be used in running a business. With drinks and tip I would have spent just over $30.00. We both lost out I did not get the steak I wanted and they lost some money. The sad thing is a waitress lost a nice tip. The waitress wanted me to sit down but said she could not buck management.

Common sense is different in all people, so it sounds like they did use common sense by not allowing a :icon_hungry:$40.00 tab to block out a $300.00 tab.

If you told them you wanted to watch the nba I could understand

It sounds more like a table with a customer versus an empty table. Not smart ... Restaurant policies should be flexible depending on the situation.

The smart one here is Indy-Guy who didn't get all bent out of shape, and who will return again to Cody's.

Good point. I will ask James about his reasoning. The is probably a long study been done to find the most profitable method.

Or, more probable, they just took a guess.

How would you possibly set up a "study" to determine the outcome of this situation?

How about we that rather dine later. Not such a good deal.

I guess GN could ask "James" if those 6 tables were used by couples or better that night. If not, they lost a $40 revenue plus the waitress's tip.

Fill those 6 tables at 8:15 .............I doubt it, should have been more flexible...

At 8:15 in the evening those six empty tables probably remained emptied (or at least half) the rest if the evening. I rarely see crowds there so "late" for dinner! Glad you will go back though. We always have a good time at Cody's! Next time look for us we will sit with you!

I change my opinion based on so many great opinions opposite of mine. Thank you all.

The owner doesn't care - why should he, the place is always packed - so if he loses 1 or 2 people = oh well their loss!

Specials are no longer till 4pm but done at 1 pm ( or so our waitress told us) and we arrived at around 3:15. Menus were dirty with traces of someone else's food on each one. My wine glass had lipstick on it. Salads were give us but the salad bowl was taken away, never to be seen again. Main course arrived about 30 seconds after we got our salads. Food was jammed onto the table. Probably should have called over a manager. Maybe a manager should have checked with us and asked "how everything was"? Waitress seemed fairly new so someone should have been keeping an eye on her. Our bill was incorrect and we had to have it corrected. No deserts come with the meal anymore.
I've tried to contact Cody's via "feedback" on their website but it does not work. Tried "contact us" on their site and that doesn't work either. Finally called the main office and they suggested I write them a letter. So I wrote a letter, as I would hope they would want feedback on their restaurant.
Couple of weeks have gone by and no call or any kind of contact. I am getting the impression that Cody's' really doesn't care if you have a lousy experience in their place or not and I will no longer suggest them as a place to eat.
So, my only resort is to tell people of my experience.

Wrong beer on tap

We have enjoyed Cody's since we have been here - we love the fun atmosphere and the food has been great! But yesterday we had a second experience of getting a beer on tap that wasn't what they said it was. The first time was at the end of October, and after telling the server several times that we were not given Ultra, he looked into it and said there was a mistake. Yesterday it happened again. This time the manager came over and insisted that it was Ultra. However, the beer was the same color and taste as the Miller Lite, which another friend was drinking. He came over with two small glasses of both types and asked us to try them - they tasted the same. It wasn't a big deal to me, but one of our friends drinks only Ultra and she asked to have a bottle instead. The server came back saying they were out of it! The whole thing had us thinking that this hasn't happened just these two separate times. We will still go to Cody's, but I just thought I would put this out here and see if anyone else has experienced this here or at any other restaurant.
