Default Is Coney Island Drive-Inn coming to Wildwood?

The former coffee shop at 301 & 466A used to have signs indicating that Coney Island Drive-Inn was "Coming Soon." It was obvious that renovations were underway.

I drove by the location today. There isn't a single sign showing anything. The signs I saw previously are gone. The parking lot is completely empty of anything. It looks to be entirely dormant.

Does anyone have any current information?

Gourmet Club website says they are open now. How'd I miss that?

I’m from Michigan and I’m fussy on my coney sauce . The guy at Home Depot on the weekends and a place in palm harbor called Detroit Coney Island. I would like a place closer in that I can get my coney fix whenever I want it. Is this a place for me?

Why sure!
Disclosure, how would I know?

Will have to check the place out for sure. It'll be fun to compare it to a Chicago dog.

Is it take-out only or can you stay and eat there?

Stopped for lunch today at Coney Island Drive In. At 1 o’clock it was as you might expect busy. Five minutes to order and 15 minutes to get our order: 2 foot longs, and onion rings.

The hot dogs are boiled and not grilled, and otherwise unremarkable. We were hoping for a NY (Nathan’s or Gorman’s on Fordham Rd) experience. Not even close.

Neighbor was there and said she ordered a hot dog. The lady behind the counter asked if she wanted an "upgrade" to Nathan's. Can't say we ever heard of upgrading a hot dog....Think we'll stick with Home Depot guy or Chicago Fire.

I also love the hot dog outside Home Depot. For me it’s got to be hot right off the grill and HD guy does it perfectly. Chicago Fire might work for folks from that fair City but it’s also not a NY hot dog. I still bemoan the day Nathan’s closed in Walmart Buffalo Ridge ten years ago.

Default Coney Island Drive Inn Wildwood

Friendly Rag-Tag kinda tattered spot
Stood a while in line to arrive at a warm greeting. Small hot dog, overcooked flounder sandwich, with onion rings. Totaled $11.21 which would have been about 4% more if a credit card had been used instead of cash. Adequate food for the price in a tattered, although recently opened venue.
Order was fairly quick to arrive. Server donned a glove prior to rearranging items in the carry-out bag. THE ONLY GLOVE WORN BY ANY SERVER OR CASHIER IN THE ENTIRE VENUE!
