Default Which Country Club?

My sister is coming today for an overnight visit. She wants to go out for dinner. We have not yet made it to any of the clubs. Which do you think would be the most impressive to take her?

(Hint, she lives in Naples and is used to the better things in life).

Help! (Thanks.)

You're probably right that nothing will live up to her standards LOL -- but I do want to show her our best.

Thank you for the referral. I take it you like Nancy Lopez better but it is not open so Arnold Palmer is your second choice?

Thanks again CB

Palmer is the best in the villages. Go to Eisenhower Rec center for the military stuff, that its something you can't get in Naples.

I used to like Lopez on an even par with Palmer--but for some unknown reason the owner destroyed it in the same way he destroyed Hemmingways

Hemmingways is out of business, Havana is the current club, but IMHO--it doesn't come close to Palmer

If you want a good meal in nice surroundings, and it doesn't have to be in The Villages, then try The Rose Plantation in Fruitland Park:

The Rose Plantation - Home

Dress code and you need to book, so do check the website

Without knowing your sister, it's a difficult question. Unfortunately there is no restaurant in the Villages that is above mediocre. For food Cane Garden is currently above the average. For setting maybe one of the town squares where you can eat outside and listen to music. (nothing like a town square in Naples) SS Demshaws, LSL Red Sauce or City Fire, BW World of Beer or Riccardi's.

Go in a golf cart where ever you go as that is also unique to the Villages. Maybe go someplace off campus for dinner then come back and go to a square for drinks and dancing.

I think it is so sad that when someone wants to go someplace nice for dinner, anything in the Villages doesn't cut it. And I know many will say lots are OK and yes, they are just OK, but I can go almost anywhere, any city or town and find a place better then anything here.

Well said, mediocrity is our motto--and you're a snob if you want something better--120K population and growing an not one upscale restaurant

I would go to the CC that specializes in what she likes best.

If she is a food snob or a picky eater, then no place in TV will meet her standards, (not meant as a knock).

Outside of TV, if she likes paella, I would go to Latinos Y Mas on 301 in Ocala. If she likes Italian, I would go to Mom and Dad's on 441, just below 466. Both don't have the best atmosphere but their food is above average for this area.

BTW - My brother used to say,"you can't eat atmosphere".

There's always "Bluefin" which seems to be getting a lot of traffic. If you have time, you can always check them out for yourself, before you decide what will be best for her.

I hope this helps.

Unless you've been in Naples, the pickings here are very slim--in Naples their mediocre restaurants are head & shoulders above the best restaurants here

white table cloths, real waiters, food prepared an d served table side, real mixologists--not bar tenders

There is a big world outside of the bubble

Default Bluefin Much Better Than Palmer

Superior menu. Great decor. Take her to BlueFin if she likes seafood. Sit outside and listen to music from Brownwood’s square. If you sit inside, ask for Kimmi as your server. And Mike can make any drink you might desire.
